I think it should be a case of "so what" if France, Belgium and Croatia are better sides than England, seeing as the majority of posters on here didn't give England a prayer of doing anything pre tournament and Southgate was called a spoofer!
Absolutely. Far from a spoofer. Some of the players are quite ordinary, but he's getting the best out of them with a progressive style. Laughable really that the majority of ybig posters were predicting the underdogs to win the last 16 game and this one. Clearly poor gamblers. I still don't think they'll win it overall but they'll have at least an even chance of making the final against either Croatia or Russia.

There's not one Swedish player that would start for England.

Its always a poor choice to dismiss a team with isn't it. I would have giving the Swedes a bigger chance against England than Russia against most teams in the tournament. A team is always better than individuals if they play together. Its why I will always feel 2002 we should have gone further.

But most lads on here follow English premier league football. They cant be Anglophobes if watch that muck surly ? Id call them English football supporters and special in some sense , unless they live in England or have some real attachment other than glory to a club

Funny how quickly Sweden go from being the team we should dream of aspiring to be to an absolute joke of a side so quickly through the act of losing a game to England.

So much delusion on all these England threads

Firstly Colombia were bet of the century at 3/1 and would tank them
Then Sweden would get a result as they’re their bogey team
Now they are sh*te and any of the remaining teams would all hammer them
When are we going to stop letting our hearts rule our heads when discussing football? Ok they may have had a favourable draw but have had a very good tournament so far, and beat a team who have taken some big scalps recently without having to break sweat, totally controlled the game

There is the chance that they could just be improving as the tournament goes on and that there is a “big” scalp in them over one of the remaining sides. They’re certainly not sh*te. We would give our left bollock to be in their position, well organised, a good system, a world class striker and scoring freely from
set pieces.
Personally I see the Croatia game as 50-50 and think Southgate has done an amazing job so far given where they were two years ago.

coyne when we reached the world cup quarter final or Euro last 16 there was no issues as far as I remember.  We are no angels but there doesn't seem to be the same level of pent up aggression with us.  It's joy.
