I remember when coonts (not too many on here I hasten to add, merely other arseholes who were going to Ireland games) were slating Robbie Keane and we told the coonts they'll rue the day he retires.

And only 1 of those goals came from open play, ( away in Wales) set piece and long balls for the others according to today's Indo also 3 of those goals against Moldova

I have a horrible feeling things will get a worse before they get better.

Wales and Denmark is such a boring draw and if we play as we have been could turn septic quickly

And if it does so be it, there's a second chance with the qualifiers, time to bring in a young manager with fresh ideas and maybe it's about time the DOKTER had a bigger input in the senior side, you can't help but being impressed by the 17's this year or by how enthusiastic Colin Bell is with the women.

Funnily I actually like the idea of us getting revenge on Denmark, while the Welsh will be bitter and dying to get one over us. (When are they not?)

I think the four games make for an interesting prospect provided we are competitive, at the moment I wouldn't be too confident about beating either side.

I don't think the fans would stand for a hammering against either of these teams and we could be on the way to one if the ship isn't steadied soon.

MON deserves to stay on provided we come second in this mini-group, but should we come last he will hopefully be gone.

The bit in bold? Definitely the unfortunate post of the year. You can get away with nothing round here.

I got my old team to try this set piece scenario in training, imagine Martin O'Neill coming up with something like this............

Michael O'Neill is absolutely miles ahead of him in terms of coaching and tactically.

I understand people have expectations of how the team should perform but some people need a dose of reality considering the players we had available.

Correct.

Shocking to think most of our squad is made up of Championship players

We've played like that for the last 18 months even with our "best" team. Whether France or Georgia. Same non existent game plan.

What's your point?

GD, I was gonna mention Michael O'Neill so well done on doing so.  There is so much disdain/condescencion about the NOrdies on this site for various reasons.  What can't be argued is Michael is a very intelligent manager whose team functions perfectly well with lower league players and he doesn't resort to the primitive/directionless/opt out football we currently watch under Martin O'Neill.

Take a look at the Iceland squad. Not many playing in the top leagues. And very few house hold names.

But they are organised well and play above themselves.

In fairness I don't think anyone has knocked N.I.'s and Michael O'Neill's achievements irrespective of any antipathy towards N.I. Michael O'Neill along with Brian Kerr is one of the best analysts on tv.

N.I. are in a better place and in better shape than us I'm sorry to say. Cry

Denmark has been hugely damaging psychologically and we badly need a decent showing in the Nations League. Relegation albeit in the Nations League will be a right kick in bollocks going into the qualifying draw in December. I've a feeling and a bit of hope that O'Neill will have the players up for it and it mightened be quite as bad as we think it's going to be.

A few unusual posts there and well thought out. It had been nearly an hour since somebody mentioned the North or Iceland...

And to think we often refer to them as The Pub Team.  I've been watching some of their games and at times, they've been playing much better and more composed football than we've managed. Indeed, we're the ones looking like a pub team...consisting of players that have only just met! No harm to anyone but that really should not be happening at international level, among professional footballers. Unhappy

They could beat Brazil 7-0 in a World Cup final, they will still be called a pub team. It has nothing to do with quality, far more to do with what they represent and it is neither a club nor a country!
