You're trying to act like Unionists are regularly victimised by Irish people, and that there's a violent antipathy against them in the South. The truth is, most of us simply don't care about you.
We're decent enough..

Really?

I picked up on a fleeting reference in another post to a nasty incident which occurred before the game, and provided some further information.

[Btw, this Unionist is also an Irish person. Does that mean I regularly victimise myself? Or only occasionally?]

I made no comment whatever about the attitude of ROI people towards Unionists.

This post was about some ROI football fans who attacked some NI fans.

On which point, my own view is as follows.

Taken as a whole, ROI fans are as good as any, indeed better than most. However, they do have an unpleasant minority amongst their support, just like every other group of supporters, inc NI's.

The quotation I gave from the other forum reflected a widely held view of NI fans, drawn from our own personal experience. Which is that while we generally get on fine with ROI fans from the South, when we do get bother, it is almost always from ROI fans who live in NI.

Hmm....

I wonder if the reason northern born Ireland fans give you more ‘trouble’ might be because they’ve had to put up with you bollocks for f**king years????

f**king hell only seeing this now. We need look no further than what happend to poor Sean Cox in Liverpool a few months back. Blind siding someone with a dig can have devistating results. Regardless of rivalries sh*t like this shouldn't happen

This isn't a subject to be swinging mickeys about. If you punch/kick a lad in the head for no reason you're a scumbag regardless of who you support or where you come from

Oh right, fair enough. Not saying the incident didn't occur, just looks like that particular photo has been altered. Might just have been taken on a crappy camera.

It was taken directly from Daily Mirror. The Irish edition of the Daily Mirror. As you would have seen had you clicked on the link to the story which I supplied in the same post. Or right clicked on the photo itself (to check the url).

The fact that you failed to do so before posting your hypothesis suggests that you are prejudiced (in the precise meaning of the word), either against me/the two guys/NI fans in general (or some combination of the three).

Very obviously.

Prejudiced? Against what or whom? If you think I have issues accepting the fact some scrote (or scrotes) attacked a pair of NI fans you are mistaken. Sure random, unprovoked assaults happen every weekend in Dublin.

I merely suggested the photo had been altered. Why or by who I don't know, but that was the only opinion I offered on the matter. Prejudiced ffs? Try not to be so precious there chief.

Do the people who posted about Robert Hammill, Paul McAuley and Darren McDonald imagine those examples in some way justify this latest attack on the two NI fans?

For if not, I really cannot see the relevance - unless you really want to make it so, out of some sense of extreme whataboutery.

What made you think it must have been altered? I mean, you say yourself you have no idea why or by whom, so what else caused you to surmise so?

So you had no motive for doctoring it, nor suspects in mind. And you had ample opportunity to check the provenance of the photo, but failed to do so. Instead you jumped straight in with a hypothesis* of your own.

If that's not pre-judging, I don't know what is.

* - A hypothesis that didn't seem to have occurred to anyone else, btw.
