I like Pepe and Diego Costa. They might be arseholes, but you know you'd love to have them on your own team, because of the way they wind the f**k out of other players.

El Hadji Diouf is roundly unlikeable. I don't see the issue with Herrera; he may whine, but he's not any worse than a lot of other modern footballers. Busquets is much worse.

Also, Lord Bendtner, Craig Bellamy, Mario Balotelli.

You need someone who is kind of crap but also a total prick, so that his own fans barely tolerate him.

I love Bellamy and Balotelli, football badly needs more characters like them.

Hard to ever say somebody is universally disliked. There are many players who are generally disliked but will find a following amongst the team they play for at any given time, Adam Johnson would be a sold call, but that is based on something removed from the football pitch.

Which is why we're judging it on those 'on the pitch' terms.

Adam Johnson was never that relevant before his conviction tbh.

I'm not sure that they have to be "relevant" players. There are players like Scott Brown and Kyle Lafferty who have been mentioned who would not be world beaters or particularly influential on a wider football level, but would have the back of fans up.

Every team needs a bastard. Some little ankle biter whose primary job is to just irritate people and get mentioned on threads like this.
