No chance of that happening for a friendly, our last away friendly in Poznan there was only about 70 of us.
time is the stuff that life is made of, don't waste it.

LOL

I'd love to see that, locals going nuts cause of those wreck the head balls been kicked around, I'd hide my Ireland jersey and join in with them

Anyone at the last game we played in Turkey The game was played in Bursa.

Bursa was great apart from the result.

there were problems in 1991 which I'm sure our Galway friend is referencing.  We had problems after the game in 91.  No issues in 99 though.

I was in Bursa in 1999. We travelled from Istanbul to Bursa on match day. We had to take a ferry and when we got off the ferry we had a police escort into bursa. I think they feared trouble as we had riot police on the bus from the outskirts of the city. The buses were driven into the back of the stand.

On the way out of the city we had crowds on the streets applauding us but I wonder if the result had of been different what the reaction would have been. In the weeks leading up to the game there was an earthquake in turkey and we saw first hand the damage done to roads and buildings along with many people living in tents outside of there apartment blocks.

Ffs Antalya in March, the good thing is you will pick up decent hotel for peanuts, the other side is the weather will be very unpredictable you could we'll need to pack t-shirts and shorts along with hats and scarves

Very strange destination for a friendly. There are so few Irish in Turkey to begin with and the vast majority are based in Istanbul, Ankara and Izmir. You would like to think that the Fai would at least negotiate for the game to be on one of those 3 cities..preferably Istanbul to give us a chance to travel for the game.

Flights to this will be pricey for anyone thinking of travelling. 350€ return maybe at the lowest including the transfer to Antalya from Istanbul (Approx 1 hour). Accomm will be cheap and quite nice and if lucky the weather will be okay. Food is amazing in Turkey as well.

As far as the fans go they won’t care too much about the result given it’s a friendly. I was at Turkey v Brazil a few years ago in the fenerbahce stadium and they were mostly shouting for Neymar. He got a standing ovation as he left the pitch and everyone headed home without any trouble at all. Generally Turks are brilliant, welcoming, warm ppl but most of my experience relates to living in Istanbul.

Thanks for the local information, it answers a few initial questions for me, whether that match is on at all or not.  Recently Antalya Stadyumu and Yeni Eskisehir Stadyumu (NW Turkey) are used alternatively for competitive and friendly games.

The FAI already had a conversation with TFF about changing a venue. Bursa 1999 was a competitive game and is part of a list which includes Gyor, Hungary 1991 and what I though was Radom, Poland 2004 but I now see was played in Bydgoszcz (maybe that venue got changed after all).
