he played under 15 but not since

These sort of cases are maddening. Kids who’ve been in the country since 1 or 2 not being able to play, yet China hoovering up players for naturalization, sending them to clubs that play in a nationalized league and are run/owned by govt big wigs. Smaller countries getting dicked as usual

Agree but FIFA will give some bullsh*t answer about growing the game. small clubs and small countries
will always be fu*k*d over for money. It is no surprise that the countries with the big leagues are dominating and getting to hoover up alot of players because of it.

I mean the WC being in Qatar tells everyone what they need to know. They have moved the eligibility rules there on purpose and not by accident.

That is why Ireland should ave immediately challenged the decision. RJ's mother is fully Irish she just happened to be born in England like. Your blood is your nationality not your passport.

Naturalisation rule should be scraped completely aswell. Ogbene should only be eligible for Nigeria. He wasn't born here and has no blood relative that is Irish but at least in his case it wasn't done with the sole intention of playing football.

FIFA changed the rules to make it harder to qualify for a country a player has no close connection to specifically to prevent Qatar capping foreign players so they hardly have FIFA eating out their hands?
Ogbene is more Irish for having lived here majority of his life than the many players we have capped who have never lived here and whose parents never did unless you take a purely genetic racialist interpretation of nationality.

Why is he not able to play?

With regards to Ogbene, I hope he has grown up since his league of Ireland days. He was full of himself, he thought he was better than the rest. I suspect that's why he was holding out for Nigeria.

I was referring to the bribery for the world cup to be there but could have phrased it better. I just mean FIFA have moved the eligibility to coincide with their game expansion plans which really in essense just follows the flow of capital. That will always run against small nations. The passport technicality is a joke of a rule when it excludes people who are clearly and automatically entitled to an Irish passport on application based on their heritage. You aren't old enough to decide your nationality until you are 21 but you should def have every loophole figured out based around nationality and can get caught out because you didn't apply for a passport you are clearly entitled to from birth by the time you are 16 or 17. nonsense.

Has anybody seen him play 90 minutes in the last year or two?

I’ve seen a bit more of Marcus Harness - similar age, position, level - and he looks a step above Ogbene.

Next season will show us whether Ogbene has something to offer our squad.  If he can make some waves in the Championship, then he may force into a squad or two.
I've been watching a fair few Champ games in recent weeks and the quality can fluctuate wildly, so there will be some good players in there but there's a lot of bang-average also, as regards International football I mean.

Be interesting to see though how SK treats players down the leagues.  As we've seen in the past with the likes of Collins or Judge, players plying their trade down the leagues rarely have much to offer at International level if we have aspirations of being half-decent.

I'm not sure why yassene neyah can't play but as far as I know he isn't.might be just a case of getting paperwork sorted out.
Definitly at the moment he can't line out for us .
The chap that rights the list of irish qualified players in the  star every Monday morning up to a while back didn't have him listed as irish .
He changed it about 6 months and is now listed.
A strange one his younger brother liners out  for corduff FC at present.

Nothing sums things up better than Ogbene and Sadlier being unused subs as Rotherham lost today while Clarke failed to make the match day squad.

Meanwhile Jordan Shipley is failing to get off the bench for Coventry, Daryl Horgan has been dropped by Wycombe, and Jason Knight has been dropped by Derby.

And this is just at the bottom of the second tier.

Not to mention Molumby who can't get a minute for a poor Preston team, parrot who has flattered to deceive, connolly who had various injury and performance issues, hendrick and hourihane blah blah blah

In other news, I see Anderlecht are in the championship playoffs and have a great chance at European football next year.

Maybe this season will convince some of the Irish lads in England to consider trying a continental league instead of playing for terrible teams like Rotherham.
