A lot of capacity issues revolve around exits and how quickly a ground/stadium/arena or whatever can be safely evacuated. Looking at what appears to be safe areas inside for people to stand is not the be all and end all of it. If you were one of those extra 5000 or in the ground at all and something did happen and you werent able to get out safely, there would be people screaming blue murder at lack of H&S such as exit for spectators and access for Emergency services. Now im not saying thats what the issue is with Newwbridge, but very few people factor stuff like that when moaning about not getting a ticket for their annual day out to a match.

If Kildare get to the Super 8s they will play one game in Newbridge, it was confirmed thos morning before the draw.

Newbridge capacity was cut following the Slattery report from around 18k to 8200.A lot of grounds in the country had similar problems. Hyde park was reduced to 18k from 33k Iirc.

Mostly exits, walk ways, turnstiles and toilet facilities are the main issues in the grounds.

Armagh Rossies at 3 in Portlaoise, double header with Tyrone Cork at 5. Any good boozers close to the ground and/or the train station?

All the boozers are on the main street or in the square which is top of the main street anyhow. O'Loughlins hotel is a reall gaa haunt but there's plenty of others. They'll probably close off the main street llike they did when the dubs came to town. Kavanaghs has a good beer garden too.
I could agree with you but then we'd both be wrong.

Portlaoise is a good spot for a game and plenty of decent pubs within 10 minutes walk from the ground.

Pity the games aren't 5 and 7 be a better time for most I'd imagine.

Isn't Hyde Park closed now? They have to build some fire exits or something.

Its not closed and no plans to either. The stuff that's needed to be done could be sorted in a few weeks if funds were in place.

Work needed if they want to hold Connacht finals again but no need to close the ground to that.

If we get to Super 8s be no problems playing Donegal there.
