The decision was taken after three games i.e. before Burnley (they'd already contacted Hodgson).

Right in one.

Thing is, when they originally appointed De Boer, it was for all the right reasons. That is, for all that a Pulis, Allardyce or Hodgson might keep you up in any given season, their sort of limited football, played with limited players, will never establish you in the top flight permanently.

And with their catchment in South London, where they only have Charlton or Millwall to challenge them, a club like Palace should be sustainable as a regular top flight club.

Of course that would require regular crowds of, maybe, 40k, which in turn needs a stadium to accommodate them. Which is where the new American investors were supposed to come in. They would finance the club/stadium until it became established in the Prem, after which they would get their investment back.

Which is where De Boer then came in - the type of modern, progressive manager who could take the team to the next level. Of course, it may be that De Boer wasn't the right man - you never quite know until you appoint him. But even if he wasn't right, it still doesn't change the rationale behind his appointment.

Yet by appointing a 70 year old like Hodgson, this represents a colossal loss of nerve since just a few months ago, when Parrish was bragging to everyone who'd listen that he now had the resources and people to make his "vision" happen.

Koeman
Pellegrino
Snakespeare
Del Boy
Wenger

All In my sights.  If I can just get them sacked this season then I will be happy. But not as happy as if they were all to be gone by xmas. Too much to ask I suppose of the Sacking Gods but you know the old saying about 'reaching for the stars and you might get the moon'.

On a happier note, Snakespeare and Del boy in the bottom 4.  I would luv it if they were relegated! Luv it!
