Borussia has a point mind.

Statement says - "Mutual Consent is often the byword for a Manager being sacked however the decision was agreed by both parties"

In other words, resigned with no pay off.

Actually, it usually means the opposite. Sacked with a pay off, but a saving of face by saying mutual consent.

Also, it usually includes finality in the pay off. For instance, if you have two years left on a deal at £2m a year, they ought to pay you £4m; however, if you then get a job six months later paying £1m a year, theoretically, you ought to pay back your previous employer that £1.5m. And it could take court cases to sort it all out & questions over whether you mitigated your losses adequately.

In mutual consent settlements, they normally agree full and final figures. In the above example, for instance, the sacking club might agree to pay £2m to end it all amicably. It basically means the manager and the club agree a figure and everyone walks away. There certainly is a pay off. There is literally no good reason for a manager to leave without one if they club want rid of him.

He resigned.

This does happen, albeit not very common, Huddersfield aren't exactly in a great financial position which Wagner has obviously considered.

They just signed Jason Puncheon on loan if you want an example how desperate they are.

He probably could of stayed another season in the Championship but he knew he was punching well above his weight just by being in the Premier League for 1 season with what he had never mind 2 seasons.

He went to the chairman and said no matter what happens he was leaving at the end of the season as he needed a rest. They both then agreed it was best if he left now.

Ah, sorry, that makes a bit more sense. I didn't think of it like that.

But anyway, usually mutual consent (at a top half club, at least) means a payoff to be done with it.
