I wasn't expecting him to make the squad, but if we get favourable results in our next two matches, he'll be in the next squad

Don't be so sure...

A core of 20+ players are assured of their place in the squad whatever - regardless of form or lack of game-time for their clubs.

It's far, far harder to play your way into an O'Neill squad than out of one.

You can't really argue with the results though! I would have had him in for now, but I think experience will be a big factor in the next two games.

Not surprised but would have picked him if it was my decision. Not many goals in the 4 strikers, I believe the highest last season is 5.

O'Neill probably made the correct decision regarding Seanie, he's still adjusting to life at Preston (even after a positive start) and no doubt his time will come in an Irish shirt.

He has come a very long way in a short space of time, from being cast aside by Dundalk, to being the star of the LOI, to joining Preston and making extended international panels.

He'd be better than Doyle anyway who happily is not going.

Jordan Hugill handed in a transfer request today.

Would almost guarantee Seani's starting spot up front for the season if Hugill left without being replaced.

Everyone stop panicking, he will come to Birmingham city in a couple of weeks and bag a brace for Preston.

Between him and Mcgoldrick. Can't argue either way. He has to score a few goals in the Championship to get in.

I'd still take McGoldrick over Maguire just, the gap isn't big enough to make up for the experience McGoldrick has of being in the Irish squad.
