I know they were discussed on the 'orrible 'ammers thread but feel their situation deserves its own thread. They are heading for oblivion,it really doesn't look good.Thumped 4-1 at Stevenage last night too.

Where did anybody say that they had anything to do with dodging their taxes? Talk about being touchy!

BH got a reported £4m for the O's.

He still owns the lease on the ground (or maybe 50% of it?), which has development potential*.

And many LO fans are/were concerned by this arrangement:
https://www.theguardian.com/football/blog/2009/feb/18/barry-hearn-leyton-orient-brisbane-road

So yeah, I'd say he regrets it all right:

* - He part developed it previously.

Only just got reading into this just now.

Club finances 5.5 million in the red with a further loss of 4 million last season. Ouch.

Pay the tax bill, survive league 2 and then worry about the debt. It's all they can do.

easier said than done on all fronts there!

the debt has been loaded on by the ick. supposedly he's looking for 10m for the club!! it was definitely a money laundering job that's gone wrong at this stage. pretty pissed off that barry hearn sold them to his chap.
the tax bill will be paid before the deadline, but it'll lead onto a proper battle between the LOFT and the ick which the biggest loser will be the club itself. I'd say he'll have no qualms about liquidating in order to get some cashish back.

surviving league 2 at this stage is about as hopeful as the ick getting 10m for the club. 6 adrift, although still have to play Newport (below us) and then Accrington, crewe and Hartlepool, all of which are just ahead in the table.

Aren't Leyton Orient one of the teams Red Bull are supposedly considering for their English Franchise?

yea but probably only because they are based in London. but I mean there's also Brentford and Charlton who Red Bull were over watching earlier this season. got a mixed bag of responses on the orient forum, some for, most against, although I'm sure that stance would have changed on the back of the recent news

a lot of interesting comments coming out about the current ick and that he's pulled the financial plug on other sporting teams before when he becomes disinterested. Also about barry hearn and how he owns the ground - is this step towards liquidation going to make it easier for him to then develop the valuable land on Brisbane road?

I fully expect them to be liquidated, the fans to reform the club in the Essex league and not hear from them for a long time, if ever, apart from the odd browse to see their results or to go for a day out if they have a derby with Clapton.
