That article gives you an insight into the Premier Leagues proposed plans for the 2022/23 season. UEFA won't reveal their schedule for Champions League and Europa League until 2021( probably because they haven't a clue yet). It's all interesting to note that UEFA's plan to link the Nations League to World Cup qualifying is very similar to the Euros. There will be 10 groups of 5 or 6 teams with the 10 group winners qualifying for the World Cup. The 10 runners up will be joined by 2 teams from the Nations League which will create 3 playoff paths for the final 3 spots. Like the Euro 2020 playoffs there will be a one legged semifinal and one legged final in March 2022. Interesting to see if FIFA will approve of this format for the World Cup playoffs.

This World Cup really is a farce.

As long as they fix the playoffs. If there is no draw for the semis there should be no draw for the final, highest seed from the nations league always has home advantage.

Not sure if it does much to improve their chances : winning two do or die play off matches is a big ask for a new manager

Especially as the new manager will only have 3 full days to prepare for his first game.

If Kenny wasn’t already on his way in, Mick would be getting an extension for reaching the play-offs.

Mick finished 3rd and was a kick of a  ball away from qualifying from pot 3 behind 2 counrties that usually qualify  and both are  in top group in Nations League
Bosnia were 2nd seeds  finished 4th behind Finlnd in 2nd Greece in 3rd Greece.

Big difference
All opinions are my own and have f**k all to do with Mullingar RISSC CRISC Ticket Office or the FAI

Other side of the coin is he beat Georgia at home. That's it.

This ‘kick of a ball’ nonsense is tiresome. Georgia were a ‘kick of a ball, the width of a post and a superb Randolph save from getting our only victory of note, and it’s a rather sad note, in the group. We were only going to beat Denmark with a great deal of luck. The reason they were so apathetic is that they knew we were toothless.

There is no shame in finishing behind Denmark and Switzerland, it was fully expected with a very average squad, the problem is that there has been no progress and it is clear that there is more chance of Boris Johnson telling the truth than there is of Ireland qualifying, so why not give someone else a go. It makes sense when he is coming in anyway. It’s a free shot and if it fails there’s no difference.

Yeah, that kick of a ball nonsense is grating. We were awful. And when you break down each game, it's amazing how we ended up with the points tally we did.

Bosnia have the right idea. Unlike most aspects of Irish life, we dont like to make people responsible for their actions.

Having said that Mick should stay on til playoffs. If Kenny was going to come in it should have been a year ago. Wouldn't be fair on Kenny to just parachute him in now.

We won't qualify by the way. History and raw statistics are just not on our side. Added to that, we're just playing dreadful football at the moment.

2 parked buses and 2 peno shootouts.  Progress without winning. The EIRE way.

I’m all honestly that’s the only way we would qualify.

Right now I’d take a peno shootout away to Slovakia.
That gives us a 50/50

Then the same in the final if we win.

Mick have you practised penalties?
"Whats the point! Its a lottery anyway! And you cant recreate the atmosphere"

EIRE send up Shane Duffy who blasts it into row z.

I give us about a 20% chance of qualifying.

If it was a one off playoff away to Slovakia I'd go around 50%.

Having to wait four months for an unlikely chance is annoying.Better to get it over with in november like the traditional playoffs.

Could be worse though, if it was Wales away first then it would probably be more like a 10% chance.

That's the problem it's just enough of a possibility to build up hopes, but probably not enough to see them come to fruition.

It's the hope that kills you.
