Off to a good start in the group. Fully expect King to screw it up as usual

Very strong side by our standards.

Strong team there!

The quality in our U19 and U21 sides at the moment is surprising and really uplifting, considering the mess the senior team have got themselves into.

Decent side, a bit strange we have 4 centre-backs playing along the back line however. Very Tony Pulis..
We're decent enough..

Drab first half, Ireland really came into the match in the last half an hour. Dominated towards the end. Grego-Cox missed a really good chance, he looks very poor generally though. Josh Cullen looks like the player you'd most expect to see playing senior football within the next year or two. O'Hara had a good couple of saves also, looks decent.

Rice defo looked decent in patches. Made a few good runs esp in the first half. Curtis was good in the 2nd half. Ya grego-cox should have scored. Needed some help upfront in fairness to him. Hes not a target man. Manning came into it in the 2nd half too. Overall very poor quality game. Really poor actually.

Disgrace that he's managing the u-21's and someone like Kerr is treated like a lepper by the FAI
Eamonn Dunphy:"I'll tell you who wrote it, Rod Liddle, he's the guy who ran away and left his wife for a young one".

Bill O'Herlihy: Ah ye can't be saying that now Eamonn

Well kerr aside it seems a complete disregard for the u21 teams over the last how many years. How great would it be to qualify for one of these tournaments. But noo

the fai have never given two sh*ts about the u21 team. it only became a full time position in 2000 when they hired don givens, and look how those 10 years went. up till then whoever was the assistant to the senior manager took the job.

If we had the likes of rice and cullen etc playing at a major tournament it would be great experience for them. Its really annoying how we dont take it as serious as other nations.

Not sure I agree with the overview that a few lads posted earlier. I thought we played some decent ball on the deck. Granted we didnt threaten that much in the First half but some of the interlinking play was excellent. Maybe watching the senior side has obscured my thought process...

In saying that, we didnt threaten a lot which was disappointing. Second half was a bit better, we actually gave the Vikings a few hairy moments and could have won the thing.

What I will say is that everyone of Irish lads worked their socks off, got stuck in and never backed out or flinched. Im no fan of King but his team had a decent attitude. 7 points from 3 games is a hell of a start.

"Despite his poor record as Republic of Ireland under-21 team manager. King continues in charge of the side. He is also good friends with Football Association of Ireland chief executive John Delaney."
