should be a very interesting squad .There are probably a few under 19s that could be picked, parrott, cassidy, idah, connell, Connolly ..it will be interesting if these players will be left with the under 19s or jump up to u21s .

I hope that our best under 19s players are left in the 19s squad. They'll fancy themselves to qualify from their elite round group and only eight teams make the final tournament. We've recently beaten Belgium and Holland x 2 at 18s and 19s level. Serious chance of doing very well if they can qualify.

I get the sentiment, but keeping players at certain levels for the sake of a competition is not the remit. It would be great to do well in an underage tournament, but focus should be on prioritising player development. The old adage of "if they're good enough, they're old enough" applies so moving them up the age groups accordingly. Also, given that the under 21's manager is future senior coach, it makes perfect sense that he would work with players he thinks will be potentially in his senior team in 2 years.

This is all true, but....we are playing Luxembourg at u-21. We should be able to leave our best u19s at that level, to try qualify for a major tournament, rather than move them up for this game. Next u21 qualifier isnt until September, at which point all the u19s can move up.

That's fair enough. Following that, Kenny should be given as much time as possible with players he feels could be making step up to senior team when he takes over.

Saw an interview with Kenny recently where he said Ireland have literally no strikers at this age level playing in England. He said Aaron Drinan was the last one but he came back on loan to Waterford last month. So he will have to look at either the LoI or call up some players from the 19s. You'd think with Connolly, Idah, Parrott, Cassidy, McAuley, Afolabi not all of them could play with the 19s so would make sense to call 1 or 2 of them up.

Parrot is still only u17 and with us hosting the finals I wouldn’t be expecting him to be playing with the u21s just yet. Think the u17s can do very good like in the last 2 years.

He is likely to play for Australia, right? I saw an interview with his sister (who is rated as possibly the best female of her age worldwide), in which she said they all want to play for the same country. She has a couple of friendly caps already... Edit: A bit more info on her wikipedia page - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mary_Fowler_(soccer)

Sister has refused competitve caps and said she wants to play for Ireland like her Brother.
Not sure Caoimhin has signed for Cardiff, he was on trial with St Pats a few weeks ago and was in Dublin only 2 days ago going by his Instagram.

He hasnt been with the u17s since the u17s tournament last summer, hes been with the u19s in qualifying. We're through to the elite round of qualifiers that are in 2 weeks time, same time as the u21 qualifiers kick off. So defo wont be involved with the 21s just yet. Potentially, he could be playing in the u17 and u19s Euros in May and July should we qualify. |

JJ Kayode grew up in Ireland, hard to imagine he'd turn down a call up. Isn't McDonagh only 20 too? I'm sure there are others I'm missing.

Apart from being born and raised here? Not to mention the fact that much of his footballing skills would have been developed here.

Well he's certainly not English; wasn't born there, wasn't brought up there, and has no family link there. What he does seem to be is a glory hunter, however.

Does anyone actually know anything about him, not his dad, and his reasons for preferring England?
