No more did he mean that.

He didn’t mean it but loads of similar cases have all ended up the same -

Henman hit a ball girl at Wimbledon
Shapolova gave the umpire a black eye during a Davis cup tie
Nalbandian kicked an advertisement board during the queens final and it fell onto one of the line judges

He didn’t show up for the post match news conference which was very poor form.

Huge opportunity missed for him. Probably his best chance of another US open.
Next year he will be a year old and the younger players are getting better.

Men’s Semi-Finals tonight : none of the big 3 since FO 2004

Busta (20) v Zverev (5th)
Zverev was poor against Coric but I think he will win this.

The winner of the tournament will come from the bottom half

Thiem (2) v Medvedev (3)
Thiem has been to 3 GS finals and has looked great all week. Medvedev got to the final last year and has not dropped a set yet.
I think it will be close but Thiem wins in 5 - mentally tougher.

Good to see a new GS winner - it’s been a long time coming.

On the women’s it’s Osaka v Azarenka in the final tomorrow.

Azarenka beat Serena last night. I don’t think Serena will win another GS now. She is 39 in a few weeks and lost her last 4 GS finals in straight sets. She desperately wants #24 to equal the all time record.

It’s gonna be hard to call the FO winner.

The cold conditions suit Thiem and Novak better than Nadal.

Novak has a relatively easy passage to the final.
The 3 best clay court players on his half are all in the same section : Agut (10), Busta (17) and Berrettini (7)

Nadal could have to play Zverev (1/4) and Thiem (1/2) to get to the final. He has not played much and Schwartzman beat him a few weeks ago.

Thiem has the worst draw. Already beat Cilic but could have to play Stan (4th round), Schwartzman (1/4), Nadal (1/2) and Novak final.

Halep should win the ladies.

Great to see Sebastian Korda doing well, following in his fathers footsteps! His two sisters are brilliant golfers too! Nelly in my opinion the best female golfer in the world right now.

Nadal v Novak today in the final.

Nadal looking for his 13th FO and 20th slam overall.
Novak looking going for his 2nd FO and 18th slam overall.

Novak has beaten Nadal in the last 3 GS matches they played - AO, WIM and FO.

The colder conditions suit Novak and he has played better quality opposition than Nadal who had an easy route to the final.

Tough one to call and will probably go to 5 sets....

2 great matches at the ATP tour finals yesterday in London.

Thiem beat Novak in 3 close sets. Novak was 4-0 in the final set tiebreaker.
Medvedev beat Nadal in 3 close sets. Nadal actually served to win it.

There were the kind of close matches that the big 3 always seem to win so good to see the next generation with the confidence to go on and win.

Should be a good final.

I had tickets to the O2 yesterday so FU C19.

Australian Open 2021

Novak under a lot of pressure here. He is up 2-1 in sets but is struggling badly with a hip injury.
Fritz is a break up in the 4th set.

Thiem/Kyrgios was a great match! Kyrgios is incredibly talented but I don’t think he’s mentally strong enough to be a top player.

To be a top men’s player now, tennis has to be your life.
John McEnroe talked about having to put tennis before everything.
Training / practice / scheduling / 100’s of hours of work just to improve small parts of your game.

Kyrgios is not this guy. McEnroe called out a few of the French players as being happy in the top 10-20 without really pushing for top 5 as they made a comfortable living with big sponsors.

What a champion Djokovic is, most players in that position would have quit! Hopefully he can recover and go on to win another Aus Open.

He's fairly nailed the underarm serve

Tsitispas was 2 sets down v Nadal.

Won the 3rd on a tie break and has been playing his best tennis since. He is serving for the match!

Delighted for Tsitsipas Clap

Rafa has a really poor record in the Aus Open.

Medvedev v Djokovic final

Hope Medvedev wins it and he should if Djokovic is not 100% fit.
He has won 20 games in a row which is the type of form the big 3 produce.

I’ve got Medvedev at 15/2 from the start, would be happy with either player winning.

Medvedev has been brilliant in his last three matches, got it tight against Krajinovic in the earlier rounds! Be interesting to see who the bookies have as favourites I agree with you I think Medvedev should be the fav.

Good bet that. I thought at the start he was the 2nd fav behind Novak.
He is very confident and blew Tsitispas away.
Hopefully a good final.

Very one sided final - Novak was like a machine for 3 sets. Very solid and very few mistakes.

GS table now
Fed 20
Nadal 20
Novak 18
Sampras 14

That was an unbelievable performance! One of his best ever grand slam wins.
