Confederations Cup winners NEVER go on to win the World Cup the following year. So put yer money on Brazil beating Italy in the final next July.

Even if he only gave a yellow he should have given him another for his ironic applauding. |

Until 2010 a European team hadn't won a world cup outside of Europe. Records are there to be broken. |

Germany still the nr.1 favourites for me for next year. Followed by France & Brazil. But the Germans have such a vast dept of talent in the squad and behind it. Unreal.

Favs in my book too but the problem they will have is selecting the 23 and then finding their best XI. They only clicked in Brasil after Merteslacker was dropped. |

Fair point. Bizarre how their biggest issue is selecting their best 11 from at least 23 world class players. The rest of us mere mortals have trouble finding any more than 2 or 3 World Class players in a team

Can't blame the VAR for it. It provided the evidence as it should and the player was punished. Probably should have been more severe, but without it, he would have got off scot free. Very happy with the system, but they need to be better at communicating the info, and 3 refs is really two many cooks. These are improvements that are easily done. I'm not bothered how long it takes as long as the right decision is made. |
