Their is no logic to the right-wing Brexiteer mentality. Every single argument they put forward could be picked apart by a small child. Unionists seem to be solely supporting it because the British right are. An opportunity to actually feel part of the UK and wave a flag for a reason other than annoying the other side.

Interesting to look at but really doesn't add much value in this format, is there an excel version of the file?

Mad to see that Shorts has 82% Protestants, considering it is such a huge employer.
Gordon's Chemist at 85% Protestant and McKeever's Chemist at 84% catholic. Very strange and interesting.

I understand the reasoning, but it does feel like this is  part of the problem. It does seem like there are very few atheists, certainly compared with the England,Scotland and Wales, which kind of highlights the point.

In a lot of those cases, it's partly a factor of history and partly a factor of geographic location.

Companies with places all over the north (like supermarkets and banks) have mixed workforces but the likes of Shorts, with all their workers in East Belfast, are naturally going to be a lot more protestant.

For example, my dad's workplace is in Omagh and it's 64% catholic, 36% protestant, which is close to the census figures: 71.32% belong to or were brought up in the Catholic religion and 25.36% belong to or were brought up in a 'Protestant and Other Christian (including Christian related)' religion.

I'd imagine the same is true of a lot of employers.

Yeah definitely agree with that SuperDave, mostly based on geographic locations, but I still expected Shorts (Bombardier for those not familiar) to have moved away from such a huge base of predominantly one religion. Over 4000 employees and only 699 catholics was very surprising in my opinion.

Caterpillar (70% protestant) was another interesting figure

Fair point, didn't realise where they were, matches up to the census really.

The worst thing about working for Caterpillar would be living in Larne.

I just did a random street view (and I mean 100% random) in Larne and this was the view I got:

It's so grim.

There are three good things about Larne:

1) there's a dual carriageway / motorway all the way to Belfast
2) there's a railway all the way to Belfast
3) the coast road heads north out of Larne

And not coincidentally, none of those three things are really in Larne.

Very few places in Ireland as grim as Larne.

Mad to think that polls based on employee religious choices are still going around in 2019.

I thought it would be illegal.  Who believes in religion anyway?? It's political beliefs.  As if Sammy McScumbag on the Shankill or  Patrick Taig on the Falls believes in Christianity and reading the bible and repenting for his sins.

Do you have to give your religion when applying for a job still? Or does some fella come up to you with a clipboard at lunchtime and ask ya?
Unless it is to be the vicar, I don’t see the relevance. It’s definitely part of the problem.
