You can save lot of money long term paying lump sums but equally you make make a lot more by investing that money elsewhere. I was tempted once but decided against it when other opportunities were brought to my attention.

You might have 50k sitting around but once you spend it it's gone and any good investments that arise could no longer be possible.

Happy with that to be honest. Retaining the same payment amounts though so will  shave off the term rather than payment amounts

ClapClap  Did the same myself last summer.  Can’t see mortgage rates going anywhere until the impacts of covid are flushed through the system in Germany and France and Italy. However there is enough of a difference between the variable and the fixed to make it worthwhile to fix.

Just got my letter there today. Paid a little extra before fixing at 2.45% for 3 years. I am retaining the repayment amounts. Took 9 months off the mortgage

Anyone on here ever get a mortgage for a property in Ireland whilst still working in the UK? Many places offer it? One broker suggesting most they could give would be 65% LTV. This would be a couple of first time buyers planning on moving home soon.

I know people who have bought from the UK as a buy-to-let so they needed the 65% LTV. AIB and BOI should offer this.

You may have to do this and once you move home and are working can change.

Have they let you continue to pay extra if you like?
