I would imagine that if we were to be holding a slender lead in Tblisi that O'Dowda's directness and pace might be preferred to some of the others to stretch the game. He has been used by MON before in such a way.

Yeah, MON likes him and I would imagine his direct running is part of the reason.

I also don't think the latter is "hated" by Bristol City fans, although there is no doubt that he has probably disappointed a little having joined with a big reputation.

I understand that. But with McCarthy, Hendrick and O'Kane having all been ruled out, and with McClean, Brady, McGeady Hayes, Walters etc already in the squad to provide options in wide areas, do you really think O'Dowda merited inclusion to a greater degree than Kelly?

He has a lot more experience. Albeit not a lot, but he has been in around the squads a lot longer.

This lad is real quality for a young guy - have seen him 3 times in the last year, seems to be improving every time. Neat passer, plays with his head up and seems to know where the back of the net is now. Eventually O'Neil will have to let go of the Glenn Whelan comfort blanket and give this boy a chance.

I wonder did Maddison outright reject the FAI when he was at Coventry, or did they just never follow up on their initial interest in him? He'd certainly be a useful addition for the next campaign.
We're decent enough..

Just noticed Kelly isn't even in the u21 squad.

Think we'll have another Grealish predicament on our hands.
