I doubt very much that Aviva themselves have any say in this. It could as well be called Mr Tayto stadium. They simply pay to have their name in the naming rights with I would imagine no say in the day to day running of the place so your mention of them specifically is a bit unfair and I have no love for them whatsoever. Your other points however are valid but not surprising.

I never said Aviva themselves. I said The Aviva Stadium. The reply came directly to me from Head of Aviva Stadium - Michael Davoren

The clue is in the name Sham!!

But as you mention Aviva, I know Aviva pay for the naming rights, and your correct that the day to day running of the stadium is not down to them directly but dont tell me Aviva have no sway in something as minor say as displaying some Irish football history in the stadium.

If the Aviva Stadium management wanted to run an event that Aviva Insurance felt went against their brand image do you think they could not veto it?

Your either a "Proud sponsor" or not a "Proud sponsor".

Aviva were standing #shouldertoshoulder with the IRFU after beating the All Blacks the other night.

Aviva proudly speak about their part in the #roadtoaviva for junior soccer clubs and all social media announcements relating to the FAI and certainly during the Euros they were greatly associated with the fortunes of the Irish team.

The Little Museum of Dublin might be interested in doing a temporary exhibition with them - they're always changing what they have and doing different stuff. It could be a good way to get some publicity for the collection and thus force the hand of the administrators in the FAI/stadium...

What about the new bridge silver museum?

It's previously housed Pele's collection temporarily before it went under the hammer.

As well as items from Audrey Hepburn and Marilyn Monroe etc...

I'd say theyd be interested in a temporary exhibition.

I just googled IRFU Museum looks like they made some effort back in 2009 to get one started. It says that there is already some items on display in Aviva Stadium.

Perhaps look to set up a meeting between them (contact details below) the FAI and Aviva Stadium to see if a compromise can be found.

I have approached The Little Museum of Dublin several times but with no sort of success even in terms of a reply. The National Museum of Ireland, The Hunt Museum, Croke Park, The Aviva Stadium, Dublin City Council, The Hunt Museum, The Museum Association of Ireland, The Football Association of Ireland, every major Sponsor of the FAI, Carrolls Irish Gifts, The Newbridge Museum of Style Icons, The Minister of Sport Shane Ross, Tayto Park, Owners of empty shopping centre units around the Country.

I must admit the response if anything from the Museum community has been one of ambivalence. Over 200 fine and informative Museums on the island of Ireland from ones dedicated to:

Radios, leprechauns, old farms, transport, the postal service, maritime, coal mining, local history, military, textiles, old dolls, bishop daniel delaney , wax museums figures, basket making, railways , books, art, claypipes ,cliffs ,Saint Colmcille, jails , horses , wollen mills, photography , brewing , childrens museums, Dublins history , wine , history of jewish community in Ireland , rock and roll , JFK ,Knock Apparitions , claddagh rings.

Football in Ireland has also played a Vital part in the history of the Island and certainly the likes of Euro 88 and Italia 90 were watershed moments in the psyche of the Nation as a whole.

In terms of sports Museums only the GAA have a Museum and this was incorporated into their stadium in Croke Park and Munster Rugby in Thomand Park.

Maybe there is still a snobbery associated in the Country with which certain people still look at the game of football and those who follow it.

It is amazing that NO effort has been placed to retain, secure, preserve and display our proud footballing history by any one in this Country thus far given the popularity of the game and how it unites the Country like no other sport/event can. When you look at the list of Museums that already exist it does show the "football family" up in a very poor light imo.

Again Sham if Aviva Stadium management said they wanted to allow a porn convention on in the stadium im sure Aviva Ireland would say no way. I have asked Aviva Ireland to see could they promote the Museum concept but with no response.

I have asked Aviva Ireland Insurance company as "proud sponsors" of the FAI to provide Insurance cover to me for the Irish football Museum(not for free just a policy) but they declined so i had to get Insurance from a company in England. Again is that a "proud sponsor" ? Im sure Aviva provide the Insurance Policy for the Aviva Stadium for Santa at Christmas.

Im a big fan of Santa and the Christmas Santa experience at the Aviva Stadium Sham is brilliant and the staff are fantastic. All i was asking them was to put some effort and imagination into how to incorporate a display in the Aviva Stadium to actually honor the players and teams that graced the field they sponsor.

Fair play to the IRFU at least they have set up a committee to look into preserving their proud history and want to display it.They are appealing for help.

The FAI on the other hand have almost an entire Museum that is ready, at their disposal, free of charge to use and cannot even promote it thru their social media platforms or show any interest in it.

I have contacted Newbridge Museum of Style Icons. The Pele exhibition came to them from Juliens Auction House in the USA.

This was Newbridges entire response: "Many thanks for getting in touch. However this does not suit our museum. The Pele items were a one off."

Stylish eh?

I replied to your initial post and the point I highlighted. Nowhere in that post can I see any reference to you having contacted Aviva Insurance and not receiving a reply from same, hence my point about you mentioning them in the first instance. Now based on your later posts where you have stated they failed to reply to your approach, then I fully understand the point you were initially making.

Fair point sham, that wasn't 100% clear on my behalf.I have contacted Aviva Ireland and also separately The Aviva Stadium Management.

Neither Aviva Insurance Ireland have helped with promotion of the museum concept or even something as simple as providing an Insurance policy for the Museum.

The Aviva Stadium Management have also declined to help, promote or display any Irish football items in the Aviva Stadium.

Either way Aviva Ireland and the Aviva Stadium have shown zero interest thus far and ultimately that reflects back on the Aviva brand imo.

What? Why would Aviva give a flying f**k that you have  jerseys? This all feels a bit surreal, is it an elaborate wind up?

Why would Aviva care about Ireland beating the all blacks in a rugby match played in America? Why would Aviva care about an Irish soccer match played in France? Why would anyone even preserve any aspect of history? What's the point in museums in general?

Preservation has to start somewhere. We are a great race for giving out like took about something but doing f**k all about it. I am looking for a Museum for Irish football in this country. The logical place would be the home stadium of the irish team, The Aviva Stadium.

Is it that surreal a suggestion?

All those questions are self explanatory, they are not in any way related. The sponsor of the home ground of both teams , tweeting about both teams is expected PR. What that has to do with museums in general, history or your front room is much harder to explain, for anyone outside your head at least.

And that is up to the people who run the stadium if they are interested or not, what the f**k has it got to do with the sponsors? I can't believe I am standing up for an insurance company, but what do you expect from them?? To start telling the two associations what to do? It has nothing to do with them, to suggest it has is surreal.  In fact it is beyond surreal, it is farcical.
