Not ever West Ham fan and England fan are fawning over this decision. The distance he has gone in representing Ireland is a factor that people are mentioning.

He’s is undoubtedly incredibly talented but he is a long way off the English team. He’s played 45 minutes for West Ham in their first 3 games and with all their new signings he might not get that much game time.

True, but the rise of players like Maguire, Trippier, Vardy etc won’t be ignored and this could be a long term decision.

This is getting overlooked. Even a slight loss in form (eg. in and out of the West Ham team) and he gets nowhere near the England team for the foreseeable.
