[QUOTE=mully_85]maupay has been pretty poor imo too but seems to be way ahead of connolly in the pecking order[/QUOTE
He is a very poor player, cant understand how he is playing every game for Brighton

25 shots at goal this week and another defeat after their 26 shots at goal without scoring last week. 51 shots for one goal across the two games. No game time for Aaron Connolly in either match.

We really are in a bad place at the moment. Our only in form players are arguably Hourihane & Cullen. Seamus Coleman has had some bright cameos recently but it is looking grim ahead of next month. I've never been this fearful for an Ireland team

People need to catch a grip on here, there are lads who obsess over every minute an Irish player spends on the pitch and will spend hours scrolling through their clubs Twitter page/fans forums to see what fans are saying about them! It’s embarrassing. (Not sure if you are one of these people as I don’t pay too much attention to usernames on here, so apology if this is not you).

We can say this Brighton attacker or that Brighton attacker hasn't been playing very well, but let's get the green tinted glasses off, what exactly has Aaron Connolly done to deserve a place?
Potter looks like a bit of a spoofer. Edited by Banjaxed - 22 Feb 2021 at 10:32pm |

I’d look at it very practically. Maupay a £20m pound signing from Brentford top scorer in that years Championship he’s 24 but hes ready made had 6 full seasons of men’s football before joining Brighton alone. Jahanbakhsh was a £22m pound signing from Az Alkmaar one of Holland’s top teams again 26yo was experienced. When he was 21 he was playing in the Dutch 2nd division.
Trossard 18m signing from Genk their star man at the time he was playing in the Belgian 2nd division at Connollys current age. Lallana who at 21 was relegated from the Championship/was down in League 1 actually and Welbeck both are England internationals look at their CVs. Macallister is the outlier more of a profile similar to Connollys although a young talent signed from Argentina. Said I’d lay it out as that’s what even as a young Irish kid trying to start for a bottom 6/8 PL club is what your up against for 3 places too. Frustrating to see Connolly not get a consistent run but that’s his competition and it’s hard to argue he’s ahead of those lads above. That’s not a dig at Connolly who is doing okay for them I think. they are all full international bar Maupay and more experienced then him way more experienced. Let’s be honest also none of the above are exactly ripping it up for Brighton??

Back in the starting lineup today. Good opportunity to get back among the goals considering how porous West Brom are. Dara O'Shea, likewise, back in for West Brom.

Had a clever instinctive shot narrowly deflected wide for a corner shortly after the goal. Forced Johnstone into a good save just before half-time. Brighton getting back into it. I'd say there'll be more goals. |

lively but Brighton are shocking. Maupay is a douche and not a great player. Connolly is our best player and will have a good career but his situation is not ideal. Their system is the opposite of what he needs.

Potter strikes me as the worst fears people have of Stephen Kenny. Knocking the ball around, but how much progress have they made compared to the Chris Hughton era?
BTW, my point isn't why bother try knock the ball around, it's that Potter is a bit of a charlatan.
