Seems to be a big issue for Galway players. Ryan Manning and Daryl Horgan both have sizable heads. Must be for buoyancy at the Salthill diving board
Danger here, OH NO

Regardless of past antics, I think he's just been pretty unlucky this season and Roseniors latest comments on him backs that up. He seemed to be getting his head down and doing well until his latest injury.

Whatever about his on/off pitch conduct with previous clubs I would cut Connolly a bit of slack this season as he was bit unlucky with the timing of the injury. He was starting to to do well and show that he was capable of at least being up to Championship standard.

Another championship club might come in for him if he leaves Hull. I don't think he needs to drop down a level.

The man they love to hate! That injury really halted his progress, he was flying before it.

To think a foul wasn't even given for the challenge Ouch

Was he? Flying? Ouch

Including the Norwich game (or not, the stat works either way), he had 4 goals in the 20 games before he got injured. Hardly the stuff of dreams is it.

An injury which saw him back on the pitch in early February, and on the bench nearly every game thereafter but he's still 'working back to full fitness' LOL

Seemingly he was a disgrace in that Curaçao friendly (the last time he played a full 90), disinterested, overweight, fighting with teammates, terrible.

He's going to be back on the scrapheap searching for another club in the Summer, with another article to follow in October about finally getting his head down, but I'm sure there'll be the usual one or two of Pennywise's profession who will be telling everyone what a great season he had and how unlucky he is, again.

A goal for every 151 minutes he's played, amongst the best in the Championship. Some eeijits just seem to have a need to try and tear him down, it's pathetic.

So Hull & his favourable situation there with the manager will sign him up again or not  ?   If it's merely working back to full fitness then surely a formality with those numbers  ?

There's every chance they move him on.
There's every chance he has to drop a division to continue I think.

Ref actually judged that Connolly had fouled Gunn instead which makes it even worse.

I hope he does realise HE is the problem. As long as there is one iota of him that is playing the victim, and has a "why me?" mentality, then he may as well throw in the towel.

To go from a position where he was near certain of a new contract under a manager who specifically wanted him and had worked with him in the past, to not getting a contract and that manager barely giving him a minute of game time in over 2 months - I mean what do you even say to that.

Same old story. There's always something with him.

A bit harsh no?

With Connolly, it has generally been a case of one step forward and 2 steps back over and over again. However, I think this season was more of 1 step forward, 1 step back Smile. Before he was ploughed out of it he was generally looking very good.

If he can have a season where he keeps fit then he can do a lot of damage at that level

He never got a new deal with them. He's been mostly sitting on the bench as they've barely won a game in nearly 2 months to finish off their playoff hopes. The signings of Carvalho and Zaroury (and Sharp to a lesser extent) have clearly impacted his minutes too despite some genius adamantly declaring on the last page that Carvalho would have no impact on him  ?!?!?

The Norwich incident was in Jan and he was deemed fit enough to come off the bench on Feb 10th but his Jan injury is still an excuse for lack of game mins now? Obvious nonsense.

I'd be very surprised if he is offered a new contract from here. Another false start.

Rosenior was talking about his strikers during the last international window as they played a friendly and said this about Connolly.

On Aaron Connolly....

"That's him (he's looked frustrated in training). He wants to be successful now. The injury that he had against Norwich was horrific. Yes, his shoulder was damaged, but actually, he had a long concussion for 10 days to two weeks. That sets anyone back, that's a really, really difficult injury to overcome.

"We've had to give him time, we've had to give him time to build himself up and you can see he needed the game minutes (against Curacao). I can't put him in games when we're fighting for the play-offs and hope that he's going to be OK.

"I need players that I can rely on, not through any fault of Aarons. It's an injury that set him back, but I can't just throw him in. I can't throw players in, in the position we're in at this stage of the season, I need to know when they come in they can do the job physically, tactically and do the job they're asked to for the team.

"Mentally, I think he's in a better place. I think he's someone who wants success now and if the success doesn't happen, he gets really down on himself because he knows what a good player he can be. He's a massive part of the group, he's really popular with the players. He's a great kid off the pitch, but on the pitch, he shows his emotion, and that's the type of person he is. I don't want him to change because that's the type of lad that he is. He does, he needs to get fitter, and that game would have helped him."
