saw he wasnt involved at all for fulham last night so that makes sense as the reason. cant hurt to have him playing first team football, seems like he did well for fulham end of last season though when he got a run

When did he ever play for the U-21s? I know his brother stole caps at that level. I don't remember Tyrone ever playing for us.

He was involved with the U-21's in 2016, a cursory google would have confirmed that for you. I'm not quite sure how his brother could have "stole caps" either, seeing as he was picked by the management team on merit. We didn't exactly have a plethora of striking options in that age group 5-6 years ago either.

My cursory google search confirmed this which made me confused about why O'Shea was calling him an U-21 international.

What a bizarrely pedantic quip? Are English-born players who are called up to Ireland U-21 camps and named in matchday squads not considered former Ireland U-21's anymore? Fair enough, whatever floats your boat I suppose.

Him being English has nothing to do with it.

Paddy McCarthy was an unused sub in one senior game for Ireland, I think Conor Clifford was too. I wouldn't call either of them former Ireland internationals. I didn't think anybody would, until now. Richie Towell was called up in one of MON's 75 man squads. Would you call him a former Ireland international?

I mean, you have to draw the line somewhere.

English born has nothing to do with it, he never played for the 21s so how is he a former under 21 plated?

Is Shane Supple a former full Ireland international?

The discussion is on an earlier post where HH wrote “his brother STOLE caps” referring to Courtney Duffus who played U21 for us
You asked if I'd be anyone from history, fact or fiction, dead or alive:
I said "I'd be Tony Cascarino, circa 1995"

It's an expression making light of how many granny rule players Noel King called up for the sake of it. He even called up players who would literally never go on to play a senior game at a professional level [Matthew Hamilton, Wigan]. Hamilton was yet another striker called up to the U-21's seemingly for no reason other than the fact he was English, and eligible.

I would refer to Supple as an Irish international, absolutely. If you'd prefer to just say Irish call up, then whatever, fine. I still think it's a ridiculously pedantic gripe.

LOL

Here is the literal definition.

"a player who has taken part in an international game or contest."
