He's 21. Georgie was rated as not good enough when he signed too. He's raw but there's potential there. Absolutely bullied the Rovers defence a few weeks before the cup final. He'll be inconsistent but he'll have his good moments.

Had expected him to move at the end of this season. You'd hope that Long was aware of it and has been eyeing up a replacement and not trying to find one last minute.

As 9F said, he's not only a big loss to Bohs but a huge loss to the league. He's a quality player to watch.

Just hearing on RTE that Meat Leaf played Dalymount in 1982.
Looking forward to the Bohs Meat Loaf away shirt that is bound to be coming out!

When you rely on young talented players on season to season contracts this shouldn't be a surprise.

Ah look its the model Bohs operate on and its the price of successful seasons and being in the shop window. We go again.

I remember panic last season before a ball was kicked and it will be the same again. I expect We will unearth some talent when the TRF window is closed and We'll have a sluggish start but there will be new heroes and once again Long and Crolly will be lauded.
Its a tougher season in terms of competition for players and wages.

We can scream in anger at players being nicked or appreciate We are in a good place in terms of talent and competitveness within the league that its  happening

It will be more important than ever that the signings work out this year. While we had Burt, Coote, and Kelly play brilliantly all season, there were a lot of signings last season who were a waste of time and money.

With the amount of money around the league that seems to be on offer for wages, we may have no choice but to rely on youth, but that leads to the risk of them being snapped up by bigger teams/leagues.

All well and good producing players for sale but at some stage you want to start winning trophies - theres a lot more money to be made in being in Europe every season than selling players across the sea. Difficult to get the balance right...good experienced players dont come cheap even in the LOI.

I don't think anyone wants to be selling players and theybhave been trying to. Tie lads down to longer contracts. But financially we can't compete with rovers, Pats, derry, not sure abiut dundalk anymore. But that's the model.. Take players improve players, and hope they stay. If not go again. It is worse than last season but last season we thought it was bad as the season before.  Europe the big carrot lacking

we have 3 mill in the bank. The model is working insofar as staying solvent and turning profit, a far cry from less than 1000 of us raising a quarter million in six months to keep it going. Some very big calls to be made soon, but realism takes precedence. Rovers, as one example have cash backers who will write off losses, we do not. But maybe it’s time to move back to full time and daytime training as we can’t attract players if we have evening training, albeit in the best facility available in the city. We’re not far off a full time budget now anyway, the bigger expense would be full time back room staff.

The big problem is if your don't have a full time set up it's a lot more difficult to negotiate around the loan market for players.
time is the stuff that life is made of, don't waste it.
