My brother (26) and only bothering his hole to start to drive now has received some ridiculous quotes on a 1.4cc. One company quoted him €10k LOL

Worked in insurance 8/9 years ago and the same questions were being asked, "why is my quote gone up even though I have another years no claims?". You'd ask your boss why they go up and they couldn't even give you a proper reason.

Depends on who you add. Try adding a 75 Year old or a 22 Year old you won't get a cheaper price.

My cousins mother in law reversed into my car at his drive way,
She was just going to pay for the damage, but the quotes are a bit higher than she was expecting, so now she thinks she will go through her insurance.

Do I need to contact my insurance with her details or how does it work?

Yes, contact your own insurance company - they will contact her insurance company to confirm she accepts liability etc.

My car was stolen in 2013 and lost my no claims bonus - as expected.

This is what I've paid for 3rd party F+T.

2014 - 383e
2015 - 432e
2016 - 542e
2017 - 551e
2018 - 653e

They are some increases. I thought the premiums were going down?

They've leveled off a bit alright but not too many gone down yet unfortunately
You shouldn't have lost your NCB for a theft claim though. With most companies Fire, Theft & Windscreen claims don't affect it in any way

You're getting older and your car is getting older so your individual scenario has gone up.

Where variables remain static (ie a 40 year old man driving a 6 year old car) has gone down, hence that's why the statistics for the industry as a whole are going down.

Premiums should start going down this year, the companies will soon have to justify to the CBI and others why they've not been reduced.

Won't be much of a reduction though until the rewards for whiplash in the book of quantum go down substantially.

Why would you not lose your no claims bonus after making a claim?

They paid out nearly 6k.

Your no claims bonus goes from x years to 3 years after you make a claim.
