I really can't see any way the drivers have not been vindicated here. Their initial contracts of 10 years ago needed reviewing in light of the extreme profits Transdev make - way over projections. And the LRC seem to agree. Added in is the pointed refusal of Transdev to use the industrial relations infrastructure.

That's industrial relations for you , Unions seek the earth , moon & stars & in this case Transdev offered 0% - the drivers were slaughtered for turning down the WRC proposals which the media deemed excessive-a view shared by much of the populace.
It would now appear that the drivers by dint of their solidarity & refusal to be brow beaten have achieved a much better offer , not only for themselves but for the other 3 grades -if of course the offer is accepted.
It's gas to read the comments on journal.ie - most of whom have gone into meltdown at the scale of the new proposals !

It appears that Transdev have been handed their arse by the Labour Court .

The LC's recommendations have been described by the Indo , who are no fans of the drivers as " much improved " on the original proposal brokered at the Workplace Relations Commission and rejected by the drivers.

It should be noted that the 3 other grades were assured that if the drivers achieved a greater pay deal than that achieved by these grades then they would also get the same deal.

The LC also say that there should be no increase from 9 hours to 9.5 hours in a shift , that the 10% pay deduction be refunde & a €750 lump sum be paid.

This is all dependant on the company & Union members accepting the recommendations.

This is surely going to be perceived as a victory for the Union & it's members & should see knock on effects across the transport & hopefully other sectors.
