Very interesting call up to train with the squad in the US this week - Sinead Farrelly who was one of the whistleblowers in the report Vera Pauw was named in.

She has just made a comeback to the NWSL after 8 years in retirement, so could be a big ask to make the WC squad although the fact she's gone straight back at that level means she's clearly a quality player.

I wouldn't say its interesting but rather bizarre!Shes only played 80 odd career games, has been retired for 6 years and is 33 going 34 later this year.

She was really highly rated when she was younger, and then eventually retired for very much non-football reasons. It’s a big punt to take but if she’s getting game time in the NWSL that puts her way above most of our squad

She's been fulley added to the squad now. Some arc

You can't read much into friendlies, but an interesting result today from an Irish POV with Scotland beating Australia in London.

I wonder will all the late call ups of players, some of who probably barely knew they qualified for Ireland 6 months ago, end up having a negative effect when the tournament squad is named and a load of players who earned qualification miss out as a result.

I think she’ll end up only picking two (Mannion and Farrelly). I also think FIFA will make a very late call and allow 26 player squads.

I wouldn't think so. Theres places up for grabs between long term injuries and loss of form since qualifying started 2 years ago in 2021 when some last made an appearance.

Sinead Farrelly, after playing 25 minutes of competitive football in the last 7 years, goes straight into the Ireland XI. Against the best team in the world! Some story. Be interesting to see how she gets on.

4 American, and one English born players in that team. Big Jack Charlton vibe of what Vera is doing with this squad ahead of the world cup

She's already started quite well - looks a skilful player.

Very composed on the ball, can see why Vera wanted a look at her
