having read excellent article in Sindo today re 20x20 #Show Your Stripes for Women in Sport "participate more/attend more/promote more" I turn the page to Football Fixtures for the week........not a mention of Ireland WNT vital Euro 2021 qualifier v Montenegro.....

But it's good to know that on the same day England are playing Spain in the Shebelieves Cup...on Fri Queen of South playing Ayr at 7.05 (that's a bit early) and on Sat....Ballyclare are home to H&W Welders...???Thumbs Down

Not the best performance in the world but still a win none the less, 2 games against the Germans which you would expect to yield nothing but a win against Ukraine should nearly be enough to see them qualify as one of the best three runners up.

Dates for the WNT's last 3 qualifiers confirmed for the autumn

"Their away trip to Germany - which was pencilled in for April - will now take place on September 19.

Ireland then face an away date in Ukraine on October 23 before the group finishes at home to the Germans in Tallaght on December 1."

She has spoken recently about her mental health struggles so you would hope it's not as bad as her family and friends may fear.

That was a torrid first half.

It just gives you an indication of the gulf between the top teams in women's football and the second and third tier sides. But no disgrace either, these guys are the No.1 team in Europe.
