Unlucky Panteira. That's a tough way to lose a game but credit to you lads for getting that far. That's a serious Sheriff team as well so to push them right to the edge is impressive. Incidentally, Sheriff seem to win a load of peno shootouts. |

Sheriff won their 4th FAI Junior in 6 years at the weekend. Incredible stuff.
Liffey Wanderers from just across the river won the Inter against Cobh Wanderers. Fair play to Aviva for all the coverage they gave it. It was great to see.

Wanderers winning the intermediate cup two years after winning the junior equivalent is an extraordinary achievement.

Was a comfortable enough win for Sheriff apparently. Great achievement by them and Liffey Wanderers on what they have done in 2 years. Did they make drastic changes to their team or what to go from winning junior to inter ?

Hi there, 8 of the players started both finals. 2 of the 3 from the FAI Junior final were on the bench last Saturday. 1 was suspended.

In comparison the Intermediate Cup received a disgracefully poor amount of coverage.

Yeah the FAI junior seems to be backed a bit more by sponsors and the FAI.

Having been in both Finals within 2 years, yes the FAI Junior Cup receives a lot more coverage. From highlights on Setanta (Eir), community days, even down to what equipment you receive such as balls, tracksuits etc. I know this year the FAI themselves were trying to align the two but the sponsorship and interest is not there for the Intermediate Final. Obviously due to the greater number of teams that enter the Junior Cup.
When the Intermediate Final was going on last week, AVIVA in the background were getting the hoardings and advertisements ready for the Junior Cup match which was on next. I really hope the Intermediate does get the coverage it deserves going forward, but from a Liffey Wanderers point of you, we were just happy to be in both finals so recent. Regardless of hype. |

Least you have the home draw in the next round although Evergreen are a good side. The front 2 of Sean Barcoe and in particular Mikey Drennan (Ex Shamrock Rovers and Aston Villa) are very good. And Niall Andrews the centre back was in the last few irish Junior squads. Shannon were 2-0 early v Oliver Bond they made a good comeback. |

Must be very recent that he finished up is he gone back to the league of Ireland? As he scored 2 goals in Evergreens win over Castlefinn in the last 32 of the Junior Cup on the 13th January
