Unfortunately for you floodlight conoisseurs the only game under lights this weekend is the Monday night football clash between Arsenal and Liverpool at the Emirates. But rest assured, the Emirates have top top floodlighting and there will be top lux value of 1200 vertical lux shining down from those north London stands which wont disappoint you fans of illumination.

What would your top three floodlit stadia in the Premier League be? I'd go for 1. Old Trafford 2. Stamford Bridge and 3. Britannia Stadium.

Great question. I would like a few hours to deliberate over the matter but if you are pressing me for an immediate answer I would say

1. Goodison - old school stanchion floodlighting

2. Old Trafford with its horizonatal row

3. Old Anfield with its old stanchion floodlights

Nice choices in fairness. Thumbs Up

In another thread, which has mysteriously disappeared, I noticed you were certifiably unimpressed with the standard of high intensity artificial lighting at Celtic Park.

If you had to pick, what would your bottom three flootlit grounds be - globally speaking?

Yes a certain individual who shall remain nameless (McG) removed said thread.

To answer your question:

Worst stadia for floodlighting would be

1. Celtic Park.  Shoddy shoddy lux values.
2. Birmingham City/St.Andrews. Darker than a dungeon
3. Notts County. They play with a luminous ball there during winter.

Indeed. You are quite the philosopher.

In fact all daylight games are played under the greatest floodlight of them all. The sun.

TJ, a bit of trivia for you but can you guess where the first floodlit football match took place?

Some historians reckon that floodlight technology was being used for association football games in the 1890's with Bramall Lane being regarded as the first to stage a game under lights

1878 my learned friend is the year of the first floodlit game of association football (14 October the exact date), as you correctly state played in the historical location of Bramall Lane  Clap

Of all teams to have played in the epl TJ, what would be the best floodlighting in your opinion?  Do you think the floodlighting is better in certain geographical area's of england? Such as clearly the london area has some dodgy floodlighting given the number of failure's in that area throughout the years

Well Selhurst Park had some dodgy floodlights which led to some failures during the games as did Fulham.

The best area for floodlighting would be in the north. The Northern LightsThumbs Up

Philly I think Yorkshire has the best floodlights in the world let alone England
