Always a mistake that. Its a lot easier to hype up our players if you don't actually watch them in action. That's why they should all go and play in the Dutch second division or on loan in Slovakia.

You have some ridiculously low standards if that is a stormer for you. He barely touched the ball the entire first half and speaking of anonymous, only completed 17 passes the entire match. He mainly just took shots nowhere near the target and hid out on the left wing with one good run that he got fortunate the defender slipped on. His shots were all so sh*t that Sky didn't even include them in their highlights online. Speaking of which, those highlights didn't feature Seanie Maguire at all. Strange for a forward to have an absolute stormer and not produce a single highlight.

So yea, let's be honest and admit there was no storming done at all. He wasn't even one of Preston's better players and nowhere even near one of the best performances I've seen at the Valley this season. It was nothing more than average at best.

As for Cullen, today was his worst performance of the season and for many others too. Missing Lyle Taylor, Williams and Leko started on the bench meant the forward line was non-existent. The team as a whole couldn't get the ball forward because there were no options.

Well apparently you can watch them and just pretend they had a stormer anyway like Maguire.

What game were you watching, he was on the ball loads. His end product was poor but his pace and balance caused a lot of problems for Charlton.

what’s his contract situation like? Last year of West Ham? Know he’s been with Charlton awhile but would love to see him at a better Championship side longer term.

The one where he didn't produce anything worthwhile. By your own admission his product was poor. He didn't create a single worthwhile chance the entire game. It was nowhere even close to a "stormer." He had about one good run which he did nothing with anyway. And that is up against Solly, who has to be one of the worst fullbacks I've seen in the league. So all in all, nowhere even near a stormer, it was barely average. He was easily better tonight for Ireland and that wasn't a stormer either.

He played well in fairness, knowing Mick I would say it'll never happen. Maybe come on as a sub if we need him.

IF he played well in the most meaningless game in the history of football he absolutely must start.

I'm not into this flavour of the month stuff when it comes to Irish national team players but Cullen deserves to be a regular starter for us. He's mobile, has a decent cross, closes people down and he will run all night. There's an urgency to his play that our midfield badly needs.  I don't think Georgia and Switzerland would've found it as easy to go right through our midfield if he was playing. I actually thought after his Bulgaria performance that Mick would play him in both the double header games.

I wouldn't even see it as a risk starting him against Denmark as opposed to someone unproven like Parrott up front.

He possibly does, but the problem is people are basing it on a sh*t training game. It’s nonsensical.

Whelan can't even play well against "sh*te opposition", so the fact Cullen can should be enough to put him ahead of him.

I know they were weak enough opposition in the two games but in fairness to Cullen he wasn't treating it like one. I don't think there'd be a danger of him being out of his depth against better opposition like Denmark or Slovakia/Wales in next year's playoffs should we not qualify on Monday.

He was one of our better players in the last game against the Swiss, who are arguably the best side in the group.

Cullen will get his chance, it's only a matter of time.

Wouldn’t the fact he was taking it seriously, if he was, make it worse?
