That Real Madrid don't train till 11 am each day. Quite the life.

Would imagine most football clubs would be similar enough times. I doubt any professional team start training at 7/8/9am. I'd some players might go in that earlier to do gym work but I'd really doubt main training wouldn't start until around 10-12pm

Think most clubs train at 9 or 10am. Fergie did 9am for discipline. What I find strange about professional football training is that gym work is optional. I think they should be made do it.

I'd say most Premier League clubs start at 10 or so. I'm aware Real is later because of the Spanish culture but it's still a lot better. As someone who isn't much of an early bird I would much rather train from 11 - 3 than 10 - 2.

In Spain, everything runs an hour, or more, later than you'd think. Remember that they are geographically in the same area as us. The only reason they are on UTC+1 is because Franco wanted to cosy up to Hitler (that's not an exaggeration - it actually happened). There is a movement towards moving back to UTC. Also, they have a history of siestas, given the heat of the place in summer, so the evening lasts longer especially in the summer. There's nothing mad about eating at 10pm, which is basically the same as eating at 9pm here. And training at 11am is much the same as training at 10am. Plenty of places still close between 1:30pm and 4:30pm. Lots of places, including some offices, work 9am to 1:30pm and 4:30pm to 8pm, which is kind of nuts. Take an hour off the time in Spain if you want to compare it to our cultural norms.

I've often seen interviews with EPL footballers who mention dropping the kids to school in the mornings on the way to training so I would say a 10am start is about right for most.
