But don’t they have one of the best midfielders in the world?

Considering the thread title, no doubt those stats are designed to have a dig at the EPL.

Anyhow, aside from your ignoring that only 2 Italian and 1 French sides went through, perhaps you might like to cherry-pick some more from these?

Group Victories:
16 - England
14 - Spain
15 - Germany
11 - Italy
5 - France (3 teams)

Group Points:
52 - England
47 - Spain
49 - Germany
42 - Italy
16 - France

Group Winners:
3 - England
1 - Spain
2 - Germany
1 - Italy
1 - France

And reaching higher into the tree, you might have seized eg upon a mediocre Man U getting just squeezed out of qualifying on 9 points, whilst an equally mediocre B.Moenchengladbach just squeezed in on 8 points.

All of which demonstrates that never mind your two carefully selected stats, the overall sample size is still too small to draw any definitive conclusions just yet.

Meaning that as I pointed out to 'Coyne' earlier, why not wait until the end of the season and see how all the results pan out? On which point I suspect that English clubs' co-efficient points may still see them top of the tree ahead of the other Big Five countries.

As they've done for the last 3 complete seasons. Wink

Did you have a wry smile on your face on Tuesday as, despite being a big united fan, you hate everything about the league that they play in and that you watch every week?

You’d be safer just being a Bayern fan now, now that they’re good and United aren’t

Nobody.

Spanish are at a 30 year low, Inter are a Premier League 2014 team, Germany is just one team buying whoever they want from everyone else.

England is currently the strongest but there’s a massive decline throughout Europe I think. Could be another 2004 on the cards this year.

English teams have a bit of an advantage with the amount of teams playing in Neutral venues too this year. City, Liverpool, Chelsea, Spurs and United all won "away" fixtures at neutral venues.

Is it just countries not allowing English in? Liverpool and United played Spanish opposition at neutral venues, Paris played in Barcelona, Dortmund in Seville
