Their lack of fight was in contrast to Liverpools players snapping into tackles and harassing them. Part of the problem was that they don't appear to believe in their style of play. Barca of old, when they were losing, would stick with the process of moving the ball quickly with short passes. This team was lofting gentle looping crosses into the area which were absolutely p1ss poor quality and easy to deal with as a plan B. The reaction to a bit of adversity was dreadful.

There is so many good players in that Barca team and having only seen them play these games and some of the United game, they looked a very poor team in comparison to their last two CL winning teams.
They should have scored in the 1st half yesterday, and this conversation would be about them been big favourites against Ajax. Even under Guardiola their away form in the CL is terrible. If they get a new manager that needs to be sorted

You are giving them far too much credit. They just weren't bothered.

Missed it last night but surprised to hear that - apparently he was an inconsolable, blubbering mess of a man in the changing room after the game.

Barcelona should have just not turned up and give Liverpool the walkover. Would have saved on flights and hotels etc.
According to premenstrual if Liverpiol fidnt dcore 4 last night then Barca would have scored 4 own goals. Because they werent arsed.

It would make sense, if they have to play they can spend match day on the edibles again.

The local Barcelona sports paper isn't holding back, even hinting that this could be the beginning of the end for Messi:
A shame that will go down in historyToday the heart of the culés of the whole world cries. Of rage. Of impotence. The heart of the Barça players is broken . Off. Broken by the pain. And for the shame. Shame. There is no other adjective to describe the biggest failure in the history of Barça. The humiliation suffered in Liverpool surpasses, by far, the one suffered last season in Rome. And that everyone had (we had) the lesson learned. The frightful ridicule harvested by Valverde's team is unprecedented . Nothing of what has happened in the last century overcomes the crash of what was suffered in Anfield. Not even that fateful final in Seville against Steaua Bucharest in 1986, which was lost to penalties when you thought you won before playing. Not even the review of the 1994 Milan in Athens, which was the beginning of the end of Cruyff's Dream Team. Nothing. Especially because Barca came from having won at Klopp's Liverpool 3-0 in the first leg at the Camp Nou and all, all, claimed to have the memory of Rome well present. What a shame! There are many guilty of this tremendous failure. Too many . Starting with a board of directors that has not known how to plan the season. Following by a coach who has renounced the style. And ending with some players who went to the field with fear in the body. Nobody is saved. No one. Because nobody was able to avoid a new ridicule. Because nobody was able to avoid a KO that will mark a before and after for this team . For Valverde. For Bartomeu. And, unfortunately, for Messi. The Argentine crack had fought from the beginning for "that beautiful cup". Now you must take a very bitter drink. Tremendously bitter We'll see if he can overcome it. https://www.sport.es/es/noticias/opinion/una-verguenza-que-pasara-historia-7443180 Edited by Territorial - 08 May 2019 at 2:07pm |

And yet just 24 hours ago you were accusing another professional footballer of not being arsed and missing a chance on purpose |
