Rovers have gained an extra 13 points.

2018 - 62
2019 - 75

It's a good improvement, although you need to factor in how poor Cork were in 2019.

The season has been acceptable - had we lost on Sunday, it would have been a disappointing season.
The way the title challenge fell away was worrying and poses some serious questions. All those points dropped against Bohs and Sligo, coupled with Bohs injury time capitulations in Oriel was the winning and losing of the league.
For next season, a proven goalscorer is required to turn those 0-0's into 1-0 wins. Under M O'Neill Rovers won a lot of crucial games by the odd goal, the winner usually coming from Twigg.

The Bohs hoodoo has been vanquished for now. This Dundalk team is nearing going over the top.

With some good recruitment in key positions and furthrer progression of the younger players - next season should see a better title challenge.

I would say he has met the minimum requirements that were set out at the start of the season. Having such a huge lead early on and the fact that they were 17 points (not sure if that's the actual figure, according to Vinny Perth, it is) behind Dundalk when they won the league, makes it an unsuccessful season in some aspects.

Cork's struggles have meant that 2nd was the bare minimum they should have been finishing. In one-off games, they are on par with Dundalk. However, Rovers need to reach a level of greater consistency if they are to really challenge Dundalk, which I think they will do next season.

Thought him and McPhail were excellent to listen to on LOI Weekly this week.

Any one else think this is the wrong move for Scales at this point in his career. Loads of potential, and a good signing, but I think a move to a club on a level below Dundalk and Rovers (Pats, Cork, Derry, Bohs) might have been better for him to continue his development at this stage in his career. There's a big risk that he won't play as much games as he should, which would hinder his development.

Game time will be more restricted with Grace signing that 3 year deal. He'll see a decent amount of games, but not as much as he would if was at a club that were a level below. Will be interesting to see how he gets on because he's a talented player.

Shams could probably field the two best midfields in the country at this stage, bit mad to then have the likes of Aaron Greene leading the line. Any news on a striker?

Surprised to see Dean Williams gone back, was he not out of contract? Wouldn't have thought he was that level.
