Reading this morning that Johnson might not even retain his seat. What are the chances of this?

The biggest bets laid have been in his constituency. Ali Milani seems a decent guy and has pushed for a debate/ hustings. There is genuine belief in Labour circles that he can be beaten, but it seems unlikely.

Many of the middle-classes want to pull the drawbridge up, despite it impacting on them too. They are afraid of change and fairness, they just don’t have the balls to say it. So they will perpetuate the myth that they don’t like Corbyn to the working-class. My partner’s mother told her she couldn’t vote for Corbyn, yet the old **** only joined Labour because of Blair and left the NHS to earn more nursing privately. These are the ‘staunch’ types that keep appearing. Maureen Lipman has left the Labour Party more times than I have seen her act!
There is a new generation coming through that demands better than the previous generation. Even Tory owned YouGov has Labour’s student vote at 72%(****s have 8%). You can dig up Churchill quotes about socialism all you want here, but that is huge. Capitalism is consuming the planet and change is needed. Most of these ‘staunch’ Labour people supported a movement that ignored the warnings.

Corbyn’s view on the EU, no matter what it was, would have been demonised and ripped apart in the press. Most people who have followed his career will see what he is, but not giving credence to that he can’t be punished for it. Well, obviously he can because he is, but not the hammering he would take if he came out on either side. Again, it is fairly consistent with his view that the EU needs to be changed from within. Can you imagine the tabloid reaction if he said he was in favour of remain? Even if he went full Lexit they would skin him alive!

By the same token, Boris, who has flip-flopped on Brexit, and everything else, has gone unquestioned about his own previous support for remain. The only thing he has been consistent on is racism, homophobia and a disdain for anybody that didn’t share his privileges.

Corbyn wasn’t an EU reformer. History speaks to none of that. He was an EU leaver who opposed integration at every turn. The record speaks for itself. I’m not going down the road of the 2016 campaign, but historically he was hostile to the EU project as opposed to a bona fide reformer. So that just doesn’t stand up to scrutiny.

I hate Johnson’s attempts at repudiation of membership the EU, deal or no deal. But how the heck is it responsible to take no position on the crucial issue that divides the country? How the heck can leavers or remainers trust a “neutral” position when there wasn’t one before, especially as he won’t stand over a deal he’ll broker.

Like I said, I hate Johnson’s position. But what attracts leavers is that he has a position. Corbyn’s is neutral and speculative. Neither which is that of a leader or a state’s person. If he’d always been neutral on the EU that might hold water, but not now.

In reverse, how would you feel if Boris argued
Neutrality having negotiated a deal. Would you remind him of his past? Would you criticise his position as cowardly, or would you applaud his common sense?

The fact that some.northern working class voters are likely to vote Tory in decent size numbers suggests that Brexit is dominating the election for some who in other times would vote labour or at least would not vote Tory.

Brexit is the main issue.

I know loads of people working in London who have voted Tories all their lives are going Labour because of this.

The NHS isssue can’t be solved in a few years. Brexit can.

It will probably mean though that labour will get a larger majority in seats in london rather than gain extra seats whereas they may lose seats north of Watford for people.who are going from labour to tory as they are leave voters. If this happens in marginals it will have huge impact

Slim chance of him losing it. The Labour candidate is a bit of an ejit but more importantly it was a solid leave constituency in 2016. With changing demographics labour might have a chance in or so years.

Of coors not.  If they did that, they would bring the price of pissy lagers up to the price of pretentious craft beers

Agree! Coors must be one of the worst drinks out there. Horrible tack

Had a few pints from Crane Lane range and a pale ale called changeling over the weekend. Clap

BoJo not exactly covering himself in glory on his tour in the North East. Was in Sunderland when he did that interview which could potentially destroy his entire campaign disregarding the photo of the ill kid and pocketing the journos phone.

Today he has opted to travel from Doncaster to Darlington by private jet - Takes about hour and 15 on the A19 or 50 minutes by train.

Keep the gaffes coming.

You'd walk it about a day if you stopped in to pubs along the way.
