Cheers, is there a long term plan there or is it solely for youth development?

yeah there is a long term plan but first goal is to have a fully functioning underage set up incl U19 with the eventual aim for a full senior side again...someday

Monaghan United still have their full underage setup that has always been in place, indeed our own U15s tied up the Cavan Monaghan Underage League (CMUL) only last week. The MUCFP then draw from all the league clubs for the LOI side U15/17/19 sides. When/if it comes to having a senior LOI team again, the plan is for it to be Mon Utd again, but time will tell of course but that is the clubs plan anyhow.

Football partnership.
Originally both of them applied separately but the FAI told them they would only accept a joint venture.
Hence the FP bit.
edit: didn't see it was answered already.

Would it not be smarter to go in as a Cavan/Monaghan team backed by the C&M league?
Seems to me like the big problem with Monaghan was in its 30 years it never really drew much support from outside Monaghan town.

that may well happen but the reality is we're a bit away from that. In the grand scheme of things and the number of regular supporters, a fair percentage were from outside the town, myself included. The overiding problem was that there simply just wasnt enough poeple be they from the town or not. Thi sobvioulsy has a knock on effect when it comes to fundraising, to securing sponsorship and the like. Reality is that GAA rules the roost and of those that do play for the various football clubs in the county even, very few would aspire to play LOI.

Same way as the Kerry League are allowed. They applied for a licence and got it. It's the League of Ireland ie a league for Ireland and not just a league for current LOI clubs although obviously its made up mostly of LOI clubs.

After 2 hammerings at the start of the season and a difficult opening season last year ,  Kerry are beginning to show their potential in this. Got a point from UCD , beat Cabinteely ,  hammered Limerick  last weekend and won away in Wexford today. Shams at home next weekend will be good test.
