If the FAI fold, are our clubs banned from Europe?

The FAI are so incompetent  that if they tried to fold they would end up making money

If there's one silver lining out of this, if the FAI do go to the wall, all of the SCs who backed Delaney and hounded everyone else for pointing out wrongdoing won't have any matches to get their precious tickets for. If there is no Irish team or league for me to enjoy, it might give me some consolation that it has also been taken from them

If we qualified for the euros how much would we stand to make?

Selling the stake in the Aviva isn't so bad. The FAI for the big matches could choose Croker instead if the IRFU are ripping them off. Bigger gate receipts too if they cross the 50k mark.

Ok - but why would the IRFU feel like buying the stake in the Aviva? They have all the use of the stadium they desire, and ultimately the lease reverts back to them. Why would they then part with 20-25 million to buy out the FAI's stake? What's in it for them?

And if they don't do it, who else would buy it?

100% of the income generated from concerts and the likes. It's split 50/50 at the moment afaik

They'll offer the FAI a price they feel they'll make a profit off. That's the point.

After the costs of setting up the event, paying the performers etc is all said and done and it's time for the stadium owners to get paid, would 50pc of the remaining amount be a good enough incentive considering how infrequently the Aviva hosts other events? And given that the IRFU seem to be doing rather ok and therefore have much less need to buy than FAI have to sell, would we not see a situation where they leverage this to buy the stake for cents on the euro?

After all that we still have a shortfall of roughly 40 million even if its bought for the figures being mooted. A desperate state of affairs
