Eamonn Dunphy:"I'll tell you who wrote it, Rod Liddle, he's the guy who ran away and left his wife for a young one".

Rugby Union football in this country is primarily a social event. It's the "sport" for people who don't like sport. In terms of rugby ever remotely rivalling GAA or association football in terms of playing numbers, all I can say is hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha.

Petty begrudgery and scoring cheap points off others and their interests is what makes us a people. Where would the fun be if we weren't like that?

Having been at quite a few Ireland games I can say with 100% certainty that the anthem is sung and the flag is there

Fierce amount of begrudgery with some lads when it comes to football v gaa or rugby. Open and broaden your minds lads you'd be surprised how better you'll feel about yourselves
|
||||
I could agree with you but then we'd both be wrong.

The irfu does not play under our flag or play our national anthem, they have the awful irelands call. They have great PR and friends in high media positions like ryle nugent pushing their interests. They have their loyal niche market but outside of this they have nothing. Much like their last world cup their will be little interest and a million miles from what occurs when the football lads qualify for a proper international sports finals. |

The IRFU is an organisation, not a team They do play under both our flag and play our anthem while in Ireland Sold out three friendlies, we can barely fill important qualifiers, need to looks at what they're doing right and what we can learn for them instead of constantly having a cut at them all the time |

The irfu is not a proper irish team, they do not play under our flag or play our national anthemn. If the irfu were so successful why is the game hardly played outside of limerick or patches of south dublin. They will always have their support for their games but they will never ever catch the imagination or hearts of the irish people the way the football does no matter how much ryle nugent [xx(] or the indo pushes this small minority game.

Ever since I joined this forum (roughly 7 years ago ) people have described rugbys support is a bandwagon. Bandwagons don't last for that long. Its permanent.

Its would mean something if 99% of the world either played or even knew about this poxy little game. Most pubs were showing united v arsenal anyway.
