Some key points.

  • Significant under payment to revenue, estimated to be 2.7 million but revenue not accepting that figure currently.
  • Deloitte talk about the 57 million of debt with significant losses since the balance sheet date. They say that they will need additional financing to meet debt as it falls due.
  • They say that there isn't sufficient evidence to suggest the fai will be able to pay its debt as it falls due and thus not sufficient evidence that the fai will continue.
  • Deloitte say that the process undertaken to discover other unrecorded liabilities by the directors was not good enough. They think that there could be more unrecorded liabilities as a result.
  • The board acknowledge that there may be more unrecorded transactions uncovered down the road.
  • Board trying to restructure the debt but don't give any indication on the progress of this.
  • Board say they will need more funding to meet obligations going forward.
  • Unless I am reading it wrong, Delaney got an effective 1.1m in 2016, 863k in 2017 and 994k in 2018. This includes salary and various other payments, but includes deferred pension arrangements.
  • On that point, Delaney entered into a contract with the fai in 2014, worth an additional 428k per year in the form of a service related employee bonus and a deferred pension arrangement. This was not mentioned in any board minutes and also did not appear in the payroll or personnel records. (Surely this is illegal)
  • Roy and Martin and team got 1.9 million of a payoff.
  • UEFA funding of 5 million in 2017 and 8.5 million in 2018 may have to be repaid if the FAI cannot meet financial solvency arrangements.
  • The debt level may be much higher due to unrecorded transactions which haven't been uncovered yet.
They are going bust.

We’ve actually qualified for 2 of the last 5 tournaments (might make it 3 out of last 6 if we qualify next March).
Avg home attendance of 42,000 for this campaign.
Avg attendance 47,000 for 2018 campaign.
Avg attendance 44,000 for 2016 campaign.
There’s probably only 4 or 5 countries in the whole of UEFA that can beat that.
So plenty of money coming in.

€15m revised wage bill in 2018 accounts
Huge borrowings and repayments
Would love to compare against other similar size FAs in terms of Income - sponsorships, gate receipts etc and Expenses. Financial Model is completely broken and needs to be reset.

Standard practice for the print media. An embargo for the Saturday print journalists and a separate embargo for the Sunday papers.

Is it even possible they are able to get out of this hole on their own?

Even if they survive, how much debt will the organization be paying off for the next 20 years, at the detriment of the game in Ireland as money continues to be tied up in debt.

Surely it is the most sensible thing to wind up the company and start again under a new company? (sickener for the staff)

What would be the impact on our team and league if it's a new company running it? Are there penalties or sanctions like expulsion?

Actually felt sorry for Cooke watching it, basically having to take the flak for his predecessor

He'll be grand. He is far enough removed from the old regime and wasn't a JD man.

Hence why I felt sorry for him, he's the one whose basically having to go into the FAI jacks to clean up after the previous board had a nice explosive diarrhea attack

Won't be anything new, it's just how the print media works. Quotes will be for tomorrow's papers.

Mark Tighe fully deserving of his journalist of the year award he got last week. ClapClapClap

A lot of this coming out is down to him and the Sunday Times not backing down to legal threats

It was mentioned when the coverage of the presser cut off.

Those numbers are insane. The CEOs of the likes of Spain, Italy, Belgium and NL wouldn't be on that type of money.

well look no further than here to see some of them who made some pretty outrageous comments about me and others who dared to ask questions of the FAI finances at the time.

I genuinely hope I never meet those who defended the FAI/JD/FAI finances.

Seriously.
