I'd say that's the best decision of his career.
What a sad situation Irish football is in for a long time.

They really are a laughing stock.  I'm sure this lad thought there is more sh*t to hit the fan and wanted no part of it.

I've heard the early frontrunner for the role is now Nick Leeson

It’s a full on circus now time for a total clear out of the old blazer brigade and a change of rules in relation to replacements!!

Fairplay to all journalists involved in uncovering the depths of this sh*tshow.

Hopefully it will end with Delaney behind bars.

It's some legacy that JD is leaving behind him. Can't even get a decent CEO to run the FAI now, such is the mess. Imagine where we'd be if he didn't 'lend' the FAI that money.

Considering the amount of money he extracted from the FAI it's somewhat ironic he got caught putting money in.
I could agree with you but then we'd both be wrong.

Would Foley have been a decent CEO? Served on a fairly dysfunctional League Of Ireland National Executive back in 2007 having been nominated by JD. That wasn't a good look to me. Very close to John Tracey and Sport Ireland haven't exactly covered themselves in glory here, have they? Needs to be changes there and all.

Big issue here is exactly where the FAI go, the clearout needs to be far deeper than what's gone on so far.

The FAI press release is laughable. It’s like an obituary written for somebody that has devoted their life to the role

Aye, very strange press release for someone that didn't take up the roll

Said a year ago it's time to create a new governing body like the Aussies did and kill off the FAI.  It will never have the trust of people again and will forever be a toxic brand.

I agree, it will take decades to emerge from this crisis. I honestly believe that the IFA should be the only FA on this island. The past 100 years of the FAI have been a mess.
Two sets of administrators
Two sets of management for mens and womens seniors, 21's. 19's, etc
Two youth development structures
Two league systems
Two national stadiums
Waste of money.

If ever we decide to have one Irish team now would be the perfect timing. Just fire all the fai and leave the ifa run it
And it's come through now to mackay... and it's there

What a load of nonsense. The IFA don’t have the resources to do so. They’d just end up employing all the same people as before that had just been fired.

What happens with the Aviva? All that debt? Do the IFA take it on and start to pay a euro debt back in Sterling?

If the IFA took over, things would be twice as bad.

And the IFA’s people aren’t all so squeaky clean.
