He's been staying in Denis O'Briens house in the Algarve. I know the owner of one of the neighbouring houses

I often wonder what kind of dirt JD must have on D O'B.

Resigning from UEFA, an indication that he knows something is coming down the line soon?

Jumping before the push.

I take it JD has been inundated with job offers with a starting salary of €460k.

Sure he told us they were all looking for him when his FAI salary was being asked about. He must be just taking his time to make a decision.
I could agree with you but then we'd both be wrong.

It looks like a piece he wrote himself and on a serious note he probably did and submitted it to Uefa to put on their website.

That was genuinely my first thought when I read it.

The effusive, yet vague and less than eloquent prose 'John Delaney played a leading role in helping UEFA to achieve many things' gives away that it was written by him.
No thank you Turkish......I'm sweet enough

Wales and Iceland both would have qualified under the old 16 team format as they were both group runners up.

Bizzare giving Delaney credit for their achievements.

Surprised that none of the morning papers have picked up that it was obvious that it was JD who drafted the Uefa statement.  They are giving the statement a lot of coverage.

Second place was only a play off in Euro 12 but it is totally bizarre. Was automatic four years before alright. He's given himself credit for it and they've agreed to his statement to get rid imo.

Yup seems to be more a case of humouring him rather than anything else

Yes as if UEFA would throw in "and when Iceland knocked out England"
They would have just said Wales run to the Semis and Iceland's run to the quarters.

I can actually imagine JD now after that game with Iceland and England at the bar proclaiming that he was the facilitator for this huge England upset

Very hard to prove he wrote it himself although I have no doubt he did
