RTE commentators are all home-based, George Hamilton and Ray Houghton are going to London for the semis/finals (Ray lives in London anyway)

You would wonder like a lot of companies since Covid now would broadcasters be saying why are we bothering sending commentators out to all these games when we can just do it from home. Save a lot of travel and accommodation expenses no?

You will never have great commentary by someone stuck in an office rather than at the scene of the event.  This is what happens when accountants take over the management of a company.  It loses the whole point of what it’s there for and it just becomes bean counting and survival.

Possibly, RTE aren't even sending commentators to GAA games around the country these days, anything to save a few quid. That said, if you're spending millions on the rights for a world cup or champions league, the expenses isn't going to add too much. And there's always a few awkward moments when the camera shot is up close to a player and you can't see if the ref has awarded a penalty, linesman has a flag up etc.

Anyone else noticed that the RTE clock has been wrong for most of the tournament? If the scoreline pops up on the bottom of the screen, the time is in the middle, the RTE clock in the corner will be 15/20 seconds off. Same if you flick back and forth with BBC.

Does the normal clock start when they take a knee or something? It’s looked like a load of games have finished 15-20 seconds early.

Liam Brady at half time in the Dutch game described Depay as having a poor first half. The highlight then go onto to show him score a good penalty, take a good outside of the shot volley just wide, missed a very good chance and then he set up a brilliant chance that Wijnaldum should have scored.

Well done Brady Thumbs Up
It would damage this forums' reputation

How many more times does Damien Duff need to remind us that he used to study Denmark. Gets it in at least once a show, he'll get it in at least 5 times tomrrow I reckon
