He's an athletic sort of footballer, I'm surprised they don't seem to have tried to get Naughton first, he'd be the more obvious choice. Matt Doherty must be rightly p*ssed...

This is exactly my thoughts on the matter. Ireland had 8 million people in 1845 (compared to 12 million in Britain). Emigration forced upon us by the genocide of the famine caused our people to be scattered everywhere. I like it that people not born here can feel Irish and represent us on the world stage. So I guess its payback

Professional footballers nowadays get plenty of abuse from the stands so what's been said on here the past few days wouldn't register to be honest. Do you think he'd lose any sleep after reading this thread? If so he's in the wrong profession!

I could agree with you but then we'd both be wrong.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2734411/Lee-Tomlin-Ross-Barkley-Cyrus-Christie-s-Derby-winner-five-things-I-ve-learned-outside-Premier-League.html
Article from the Daily Mail in August 2014. Heres what it say about Cyrus; Cyrus Christie – the young right back has hit the ground running at Derby County after making the step up from League One Coventry City, his hometown club. He had been with the Sky Blues for 13 years so some early season 'homesickness' might have been understandable but he looks like he has been playing in the Championship all his life. It’s thought Derby picked up him for a fee of around £100,000 after he ran his contract down – it’s a real bargain and I find it hard to believe no Premier League club took him. Makes you wonder how hard their scouts work. On his debut on the opening day of the season he provided the cross for the Rams’ winner against Rotherham, and four of the five Derby goals against Fulham on Saturday were started on the right. His attacking qualities are matched by his defensive ability. This kid is only 21 and on the evidence so far, he has got a massive future. At his current rate of progress he will be in the Premier League next season, either with Derby or somewhere else. |
