This is exactly my thoughts on the matter. Ireland had 8 million people in 1845 (compared to 12 million in Britain). Emigration forced upon us by the genocide of the famine caused our people to be scattered everywhere. I like it that people not born here can feel Irish and represent us on the world stage. So I guess its payback

He's an athletic sort of footballer, I'm surprised they don't seem to have tried to get Naughton first, he'd be the more obvious choice. Matt Doherty must be rightly p*ssed...

He doesn't know anything about the guy that's the hilarious thing. For all we know his mother's name could be Mairead O' from Connemara. Nobody seems to know anything about him .That should actually be Ni Suileabhain?

Laughing at the thought of Cork lads playing for Kerry
 although there is a couple of Kerry lads playing with Mayo  You can be born abroad and still be Irish. Would you not call Kilbane or Paul McGrath Irish? Even McGeady and McCarthy with deep Irish heritage consider themselves Irish. If you are talking about lads who consider themselves English declaring for us. Like I said I've no problem with two or three on our team in positions we are weak in if they give their all. |

This lad must already have irish citizenship if there was talk in the last day or two of him being called up for the Gibraltar and Germany matches. Anyway hope of that has been dashed as international clearance would take a wee bit longer to attain.

If a player declares for us and is willing to give his all I've no problem. I'd limit it to two or three players in positions we are weak in. This guy will be good cover for Seamus or possibly give us the option of pushing Coleman to midfield with McGeady on the left. Depends how good he is.
