Dunno about that actually happening, as much as I'd love it to...have another look at one of those sub-headlines in that report: 'FIFA, now sponsored by Qatar Airlines'....Disapprove

I'd imagine a sponsorship deal is easy enough to get out of

Maybe, but God knows what sort of (probably very delicate) politics have been going on around that deal behind closed doors which could make it trickier to get out of regardless of the law. This is FIFA we're talking about after all, Blatter or no Blatter. LOL

Hope you're right though, regarding both that sponsorship deal and taking the tournament off Qatar.

Don't think this will have any influence on football. As much as we'd like this to be about FIFA corruption and human rights it's really about the conflicting interests of Qatar on one side and the great champions of human rights (Saudis, Bahrain and UAE) on the other..

A very localised dispute and the political pressure being imposed on them will probably have the desired result [for the Saudis]

Wouldn't be surprised if the Saudis and their henchmen trigger a conflict. Things escalated last night...and there was what some describe as a coup earlier this week when the Saudi king announced his son as successor and shafting the previous chap. The son btw is supposedly a lunatic who is presiding over the debacle in Yemen etc.

German paper Bild has obtained the report into corruption over the awarding of the WC to Qatar, says it's going publishing the full details of it. This is the report that FIFA tried to suppress & lead to the resignation of the lead investigator.

It really is amazing this thing was awarded, as a measure of just how corrupt this process was, Sepp Blatter wouldn't go near it, it was too murky for even him.

When this is overturned it will probably rule Germany out of hosting it also for breaking the full story

There should be questions about next year's tournament going ahead in Russia too, although there is little realistic hope of a change of venue. The whole of their 2014 World Cup squad is being investigated for doping, which is hardly a huge surprise given the exposé of a state sponsored doping programme in recent times. What makes it worse is the fact that the sports minister who oversaw this has been severely punished for this by being promoted to Deputy Prime Minister.
This is to go along with the suspicions of bribery, the use of slave labour in building the stadia and the fact that the whole racism thing hasn't gone away.
Infantino has proved to be just as corrupt and useless as Blatter, the whole organisation needs to be stripped bare. One can only hope that the news from Bild will do just that but in reality nothing will really change.

Germany are already in for the 2024 Euros as well, along with Turkey, UEFA have said something about human rights issues having to be addressed before a successful bid, which rules out Turkey, given Erdogan is arresting lads he doesn't like the look of on a regular basis.

They probably could do a WC & Euros back to back without any great issues, but it is probably unlikely. Only thing that will move it from Qatar is if the sponsors collectively get spooked, depending on just how much corruption is in this report. That too is unlikely, because as PM points out, a fair proportion of the reasons the WC shouldn't be in Qatar could also be pointed in the direction of Russia, and that won't be happening at this late stage.

USA and a few others could too but at the end of the day it's going to Qatar.
Every World Cup has been bought but the current price just makes it difficult to hide.

If Ireland qualify I fully expect 20,000 plus Irish people there.

Can't see anywhere near that tbh , have little interest myself in going to a glorified theme park - all my hopes for a World Cup are on Russia
