Why would it be too many Irish players in the one basket. It can only be a good thing that he's joining a good club who have other Irish players to make it easier for the player in settling in.

Not necessarily a bad thing. I think Brighton are quite good at getting good lower league loans for their players if they do well at u21 level. If they have enough talent and the attitude they will get to where they are supposed to be.

o'mahony is way off fergusons level, he'd be an u21 for 2 seasons at least id imagine with a loan coming after that. wont be competing with ferguson or moran who are first team players. mullins is a midfielder so no competition there either.

Why? 11 goals in 13 underage games for Ireland and got some minutes last season for Corks first team. Not surprised at all.

tbf loi first division is poor. hes young but id have expected him to feature more and effect the games a bit more in a poor league. brighton is a really good move for him though. looking forward to seeing where he ends up in a few years time.

Saw him playing for the 17s in Turners Cross last year. Thought he was OK but doesn't look to have much technical ability. Definitely more of the old-school centre forward type of player.

They were champions after all so he did well to get the minutes he did. Top few teams were decent enough last season. He should certainly have no fear going from that to 21s football with Brighton - should set him up nicely.

I'm from Cork and very familiar with him. I just don't see any standout qualities there that make you think he will be elite. I hope I am dead wrong.

Fair enough..he is raw no doubt but he is still only 17. Always thought he had a bit about him myself - time will tell i suppose.

Yeah look you never know he might kick way on with better coaching. Just usually lads have pace or some kind of stand out skill these days to make PL. Can carve out a career though no doubt I wish him the best.

Tony Springett (Norwich winger, aged 20, with Ireland U18 appearances) off to join the Irish contingent at Derby for the rest of the season.
Seems a decent loan Edited by Fozz - 16 Jan 2023 at 2:06pm |

I was a little underwhelmed by that one. Started a few games atvthe beginning of the season and didnt look out of place. League 1 at the minimum i would have expected. Hope he does well there

Strange one yeah but it's only half a season so I guess they figured regular senior football is more important. Can assess again in the summer.
