Luke McNally on the bench for Oxford this afternoon after netting a double for their U-21 side during the week.

incredible that they’ve put this 16 year old straight into U23s football and he’s rising to the challenge. Will be really interesting to see him develop. Hes physically advanced for a 16 year old but he’s regularly playing with and against players 4-5 years his senior.

Ireland's crop of players from Kenny's under 21's have numbed my enthusiasm over the last 18 months. My expectations have dropped through the floor for anyone now.
Indeed going straight in as a 16 year old can only be a good sign, but Lord, on this day of resurrection....please bestow unto us even just one fooking player to give us hope!

I'd say it was maybe part of the deal to get him to Brighton, that they'd put him straight into the Under 23s where a Liverpool or someone else might have started him with the Under 18s. Lads like Moran and Everitt have been there a while and doing well enough but are still with the Under 18s.
Anyway, he's rising to the challenge well. The thing with Under 23s at the moment is that with nine subs on a Premier League bench if you do well with the Under 23s it only takes a few injuries to others to get onto the first team bench. Then you might get lucky and get a run out off the bench in an end of season dead rubber league game.

He's a big prospect. Great to see him progressing at the rate he is

Just having a quick look at Brighton’s U23 squad/roster. He’s by far the youngest. October 2004 as well so he’s not even 17 until the end of the year. Only 4 lads in it born in 2002 the rest born in 2001 or earlier. James Furlong is actually the 3rd youngest in that squad and he’s June 2002 well over 2 years older. He’s with lads mostly 3 or more years older than him. It puts in full context just how promising he is. Hopefully he gets a free run with injuries etc and continues to progress.

Jason knight seem to be playing poorly the last few weeks according to reviews online from derby fans

Knight could do with a rest for a few games, might get it once Derby are safe from relegation. Has played more football since October than you would want a 19/20 year old to be playing to be honest, especially a player with the box to box game that Knight plays week on week. Shows how important he is to them that they haven't felt they can rotate him, but it means he is playing well below what he is capable of.

Goal for Jonathan Afolabi in the Scottish Championship tonight. Luca Connell off at half time for Queens Park, hoping nothing serious.

Lewis Richards on the bench for Wolves again today. Pretty amazing to have a player around the first team of a premier league club without him playing for us much. Hopefully he gets some minutes this season

If he makes the breakthrough we could almost field a team fill of decent centre backs.. Could see us playing centre halves out of position!

Worked all right for big Jack with Paul McGrath and Mark Lawrenson. I'm not suggesting Richards will reach that stratosphere but he does look a good prospect, highly rated at Wolves.

Mipo odubeko scored two tonight so far (game still on) with the under23 against United. It would really be a shame I feel if we do lose him as think he could be a good player

Couple lads on show today in the u23s.
2 goals for Odubeko already, doesn’t get many chances created for him but he’s deadly when he gets it. Coventry, 3-4 years older than most and looks fairly average. Charlie McCann, same old, some talent on the ball but just all over the place positionally.

Hattrick for Odubeko now. Just gets it, one two touches and slots them in the corner. Very good finishing. Completely changed a game which West Ham were dominated in for the first 75 minutes.
