There's no doubting he has that natural flair that can't be coached or thought, but I really think his style of play blinkers peoples opinions of him. Speaking of Spain, you could probably pick up a player of similiar ability to Jackie boy for half or even a third of the price it would cost to get Villa to sell. |

He reminds me a McGeady in a small way.
Both have natural skill (though McGeady can use either foot to beat an opponent, Grealish has the tendency to take it back onto his stronger right foot) and excellent at creating a bit of space for themselves in tight quarters but both players for me just lack that pace to leave a player for dead even if they get past them. McGeady nearly tries to beat him again because he isn't quick enough leave a player for dead. If McGeady had Shane Long's burst of acceleration, he probably would've been a lot more effective for us.

Anybody watching Grealish regularly over the past 12 months will see why the likes of Spurs were linked with a massive money move for him, and why also Villa turned it down. He is light years ahead of almost every player in the Championship and as long as he keeps his head down and just gets on with things he'll play at a high level for a long time after this season.
McGeady isn't in the same realm as Grealish. 2 players of polar opposite abilities.

Have you watched Grealish this season though? He was excellent against Hull and changed the game against Yeovil when he came on and aside from that, hasn't done anything. Home grown British talent in being overpriced shocker, something I wouldn't read too much into nowadays when you see some of the prices average players are going for. The top defenders suss out the tricks and flicks very quickly and his stats for a player seemingly "light years" ahead of anything else in The Championship are so ordinary, never mind factoring in that Villa definitely have one of the best squads in the league also. I just don't see the hype and never have done tbh.

Villa have one of the best squads on paper in the championship for the past 2 seasons, yet they are an absolutely appalling side to watch in an attacking sense. There is no patterns at all to what has gone on there in a tactical sense under Bruce. it's just been a case of sign a load of players on huge contracts, stick them on the pitch and pray it comes together. Grealish was the glue holding everything together in a truly awful side in an attacking sense over the past year.
I have no doubt whatsoever that Grealish is light years ahead of most players in that division. I saw the whole game against Hull, and just on that viewing alone you could see why anyone would make that argument. If there was a referee of anywhere near a competent standard, Hull would have seen 2 or 3 reds in that game for their treatment of Grealish alone. If that is what you mean by a player being sussed out, fair enough. I don't think that's anything like being sussed out though. That's players in an opposition knowing there is no other way of stopping Grealish legally. Btw, I'm not the Grealishs biggest fan or anything. It's just clear that technically he is a superb player and well capable of playing at a much higher level. The only doubts over him are clearly his attitude etc. at times and that's a a fair enough question to ask of him. I think lads on here especially, get sucked into him being sh*te just because he turned us down. Not saying that's what you're at GD btw. I expect Grealish to be a big player in the next few years for England.

As far as I'm aware, Mount is only eligible for England. He trained with them before the World Cup. Southgate is a big fan of his and the fact he has been brilliant for Derby so far this season hasn't done him any harm.He has a real chance of making it at Chelsea.

I'm lost? How could that possibly be sarcastic? Because of Rice? Not even good sarcasm then!
Of course Mount could be eligible for someone else, half of England is! Edited by pre Madonna - 04 Oct 2018 at 3:44pm |

Grealish got way more stick than Rice is getting while he deliberated. Unlike Ricehe hadn't any senior caps, I never understood why it upset people so much.
These young lads will play the underages and probably assume they'll never get to far up the football ladder at the under 15 ages and as they get older their dreams happen and they are playing with their club's first team, and then the realities of a full international career (or lack of one in Grealish's case ) come into view, so they make a choice. Good luck to him. Rice's behavior on the otherhand is a different gravy all together

11 appearances this season = 0 goals and 1 assist.
Granted he would have added a bit of flair to our team but I still struggle to see the fuss overall tbh when people are touting him to play consistently for a top side at club level.
